pets

I am trying to re-figure my understanding on how the pet system works. Right now I have a level 30 rune spirit which i bought that way. The aptitude was fairly high 70's. I know that having a higher level aptitude rune spirit from day one would have been the way to go. I do know that there are restrictions on the values of how high a pet's value can be for each level. I also know that the tp points and experience points earned while leveling is something within itself. My debate is this: I have a level 30 rune spirit which works great, it's values are 32/32/28/28/28. Is that normal, average, low, or high? I would have to say pretty low considering i think it's values could be double that for max values at level 30, am i wrong. I think in this case wouldn't it be easier to merge a pet with higher values with a higher level rune spirit. Is that why they took out the neutralization drink from item shop?

also, if you obtain a higher level pet with a pre-exsisting high level apt, lets say for example level 30 rune spirit with 77 aptitude aren't it's values based on that. Meaning if I were to raise a level 1 rune spirit with 77 aptitude to level 30 wouldn't it's vales be the same?

Lastly, the pet vendors sell special item shop items for pets but use a currency i can't figure out. I know they are not guild badges or golden pet eggs. I tried both.

You want a low level holy pet egg. High level pet eggs are trash, regardless of aptitude, and rune pets are the worst in terms of overall stats.

What most do is get a level 1-2 holy pet egg (not rune pet) with a decent amount of apt (80+ is best, but can be hard to find. Be prepared to spend several million at least on a good egg). You can raise the apt by chain merging pets into the holy pet egg, and using golden eggs to trade for Awakening Potions from the pet hunter in Miller's Farm. Each potion converts 1,000 training points (which you get from merging) into 1 aptitude point.

You keep doing this until your pet is maxed out on apt (note, you can shorten the time it takes to do this by buying blue rune pet eggs with 90+ apt to merge). THEN you start leveling it. With max aptitude, the stat gain per level will be much greater than buying a level 30 pet egg with low apt.

Just to note, to get pets to a high level once their apt is maxed, it is extremely costly. You will want to hold off on leveling it too far until you have the money to spend on it. Pet egg merging alone can get you to ~level 30 though if you troll the AH constantly, which is cheaper than the grind from 30-40 or above.

There's a more descriptive guide in the guide forum (it's a sticky) that Vfwiffo wrote for people wanting to learn how to level pets -- it explains the chain merging process very well. You should check it out for more in-depth information on pets.

The awakening potion your talking about is only obtainable through diamond shop and cannot be purchased through the pet hunter. I would like to know how to purchase the special items available through the pet hunter but no one seems to have any information on the special currency the pet hunter is using. The currency is not golden eggs because I saved thirty five of them and couldn't buy crap.

Talk to the pet guy WHILE YOU ARE IN MILLER'S RANCH. He will give you the option to trade golden eggs to get awakening potions as well as other stuff. The "other currency" is Honor Points, available through 1v1, 3v3, and 6v6 Arena combat. I believe there might be other ways to get them too.

As I said in my post, in Miller's Farm. Not out of it.

Rune pet eggs are good only as small burst for alts, I have couple with >L30 rune pet egg that makes slight difference in alts life. :)

On main as effervescent already mentioned you best by getting holy egg, but not any holy egg - holy egg for your class. For example for Rogue its best if is dark holy pet, for mage fire etc.

Rustyx has explained that into details in his guide, still on forum.

The pet hunter does not give an option to buy anything with golden pet eggs whether or not your in miller's ranch or talking to the pet hunter before entering the instance. If the other currency the pet hunter uses is honor points, which i have 182 of them why can't I buy anything from him.

also the honor points have a different symbol under character profile then the symbol next to the item in pet hunter shop.

The option to trade for golden eggs is available under the well disguised menu choice called "Trade Golden Eggs?". That menu choice replaces "Enter pet hunting training" on the original menu after you do the training. You did "pet hunting training" before getting into pet development, right?

If you don't want to pay for your pet potions with eggs, you can use badges that you get from SW. Golden eggs are better for it, though.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

I figured out how to get the items with golden eggs, after you complete training you can trade them for special things. The pet hunter also has 4 items in the regular shop which are: enhancement potion 25? , neutralization bar 35? power pet growth potion? but it doesn't say what you need to buy them. These items can't be bought with honor points or golden eggs, still confused.

You can buy on miller ranch potion to level apt, turn 500 training into 100 talent points. Just ask correct question. ;)

Those are not honor points, those are Badges of Trial.
