Buffs & buff stacking?

Hi,

Just started playing with a couple of friends. We all want to play casters (Priest, Mage, Druid, etc). I'm trying to do some research so we can pick classes that can buff each other well. Which are the most important buffs for a caster group & do similar buffs stack in this game?

What would be an ideal 6man group for casters? The only one that seems obvious so far is the group magic buff from Scout/Priest.

P/K for hp and mana buff
P/S for matk buff
M/P for another matk buff
Wl/anything for 6% all attributes
D/Wd for magic damage buff

There are a lot more, but those are the most common classes.

Yes, a lot of buffs do stack though you cannot stack similar food types. For example, magic attack foods don't stack with magical damage foods and HP foods don't stack with defence foods. Trial and error would probably be the easiest way for you to find out.
Cammo (82 M/82 W/82 R) 116,147 unbuffed Matk :D (95k pa - r/m)
Livia (82 P/77 K/75 S) wisdom O.o wtf is that...
~~ retired - Thanks to gameforge for that. ~~

Hm.. so if we made a group with some kind of tank plus those 5 classes types you mentioned, that would cover most of the important buffs?

What about debuffs on the target?

Also, which classes have the best physical damage buffs?

If you're compiling a 6-person group, having 3 healers in it would not be a good idea. P/S is good in PvP, but its damage is severely lacking in PvE. Making a 6-person group solely based on buffs won't work. You need actual DPS, and healers are not DPS.

D/W has the best physical damage buff in the game. D/Wd has a damage buff for casters (not sure if it stacks with P/S matk buff). Wl buff is very, very good and stacks with hero potions which have a similar effect. Physical damage buffs won't help much, though, if all of you are playing casters and plan on grouping with each other mostly. You will need physical DPS to swap some people with (or to join you in a 12-man) if you plan on doing any difficult content, however, as casters just can't keep up with physical damage (exception being W/M, though it's not really a caster even if it does magic damage), especially given the increase that physical classes got with the newer instance, and the lack of an increase for casters.

In a 6 man, i would pick two healer combos maximum if you'll be together frequently. Keep in mind that there are always third classes -- a P/K can also be a P/S, for example, and a D/W can also be a D/Wd or D/S. You'll want warlocks, mages, or W/M for caster DPS.

Meaning there's no reason to play caster DPS at all in this game? That's pretty silly. I guess that means the only viable ranged DPS is Scout?

So a group with 1 Tank, 2 Heals and 4 Scouts would work? Which Tank/Healers and secondary for the scouts would you recommend for the best mix of buffs, etc.

I know these guys don't have the patience to re-roll if we accidentally pick gimped classes, so I'm trying to figure out an optimal group before we get started this weekend!

After reading Scout forum a bit . . .

1: Tank - Not sure which, can't see any with physical buffs for party.
2: P/K - Heals + Amplified Attack buff.
3: S/P - DPS + Drums of War/Spiritual Leader buffs (can switch to P/S for more heals)
4: S/R - DPS + increase physical dmg on target. Plus good DPS with 4x Vamp Arrow in group?
5: S/Wd - DPS
6: S/Wd - DPS

How does that look? I can't see any other scout or healer combos that have good physical buffs, but I get the feeling romwiki has oudated info.

That looks pretty good. Are you all just starting? How high levels are you?

Thats not really true, mages and warlocks are needed in certain situations and there are some pretty hefty DPS mages out there, they just take intelligence and patience to learn the class and its rotations. Scouts are significantly easier to play and gear than casters and have more initial potential is all.

We're just starting. I played this for like a week years ago when it first came out, but none of us really have any idea what we're doing :D Hence all the noob questions.

We'll give this a go and see how it does.

I would not get class just because of buffs. Buffs you can get many different ways, from cooking and alchemy, housekeepers, titles, item sets...

In my opinion, it would be best to view what others are using in instance runs or SW depending what do you like to opt for.

Also - do you like to play given class, and is it playable for you style - that is all new story....

I personally did not care about what is most popular, I created many characters and tried them, and selected the one I liked the most. Over time I learned something new, decided to change and did not have much of a problems. One and up to 2 healers in group is more then enough.

Not sure that I would like to be in group full of scouts... no CC and no full DPS...

If you plan on progressing through every instance, starting from the lower down ones, you'll want a mage for AoE. While higher level instances don't have much in terms of needing AoE, many of the older instances and zones do, especially HoS where you'll get groups of 10 mobs, and it will be a massive relief to have a mage pop in and aoe stun and kill them all at the same time.

And mages are not really gimped... we may be a little lower down in scrut, but that doesn't mean we're not viable in instances. Rogue is also a very viable DPS, with Rogue/Scout combination being the top Rogue DPS combo, as is Warrior/Warden and Warrior/Mage. If you have all scouts, competition for loot may get... ugly :D Though there are many guilds that would kill to have an army of scouts come in for PvP... PvP is really lacking scouts, and many guilds are suffering from it. *cough rogues cough*

If you're on Govinda, I have a noob level 45 rogue and 58 priest that I can use to come and help out with instance progression, and a 75 mage if you're getting frustrated and just want to see boss die :D

All this talk of gimped mages makes me rofl..... War/mage anyone? :P
All comes down to preference really s/wd is about the only viable scout option
wd/s is good fun (not bias at all)
r/wd or r/s (personally i enjoy r/s more)
w/k wd/w and k/s make good tanks
and w/mage is killing everything atm
druid/scout great raid healers p/k great for parties.
I have no idea about dwarf classes combo's but warlock has some mean party buffs :)
Im sure there are many others and differing opinions.
Best thing about chapter 5 is so many combos are viable to play now :)
