Tiering/Stating question

index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5321index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5322

Can someone please explain to me the math behind creating the tiered/statted staff as opposed to the non-tiered/statted?

Everything I've read about tiering indicates that every tier over the base tier adds 10%, and the OD adds another 20% - meaning the tiered/statted one should be about 180% better than the original (60% from the tier, 20% from the OD) - but the math for that doesn't add up: (2,194 * 1.80 = 3,949). I even tried ((2,194 * 1.60) * 1.20), but that only equals 4,212; still far below the 5,081 of the completed one.

Just trying to figure out the math. :)

Thanks!

Best way to figure out the math of statting/tiering is an addon such as character plan. Highly recommended.

As for your staff, it is +12.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

So plussing adds damage as well? I thought it just added to the "hidden" stats on the item (in this case, Magical Attack & Crit Rate)

I'll go take a look for character plan tho.. If it works, it should have the math in the source. :)

Your problem with the math is that you're stacking the % bonuses. 10% for each tier level isn't compounded, it's simple.

To find the dps of your weapon after tiering. Simply multiply the dps by 1.X where X stands for every tier above the base.

Both damage and some (not all) ghost stats. And, yes, the math is pretty easy to see there. Here are some numbers for your Raksha.

Non-OD

+0 = 2194
+6 = 2479
+12 = 2918
+16 = 3466
+12 T9 = 4234.4
+16 T9 = 4782.4

OD

+0 = 2632.8
+12 = 3501.6
+16 = 4159.2
+12 T9 = 5081.3
+16 T9 = 5738.9

The bonus per plus level is not linear, by the way. It is much more pronounced on higher category. First 6 plussing levels gave you only 285, then the next 6 give you 439, then the next 4 give you 548 more.

Yep, that's what was throwing me - thinking it was linear. I grabbed Character Planner and it's very nice in that it shows you what all items do after Plussing/Statting/Tiering. :) Now I just have to figure out how I'm ging to afford these expensive staffs when they're running 100+ Million in the AH. hehehe. :)

Thanks all. :)
