Is selling guild illegal?

the reason I ask is someone was in worldshout offering his guild, people said thats illegal... and others said no its not, we all know selling chara is illegal since its against the rules to give out pw, but i would think guilds would be different since they say you are Allowed to trade ingame gold for ingame item... no exchange of pw happen in the exchange of guildownership

and guild ownerships change often, people give them to their alts, or their wives/husbands or friends...

If it's selling the Guild with Ingame Gold i think it's fine, but if they want real life Money, I don't think it is

As long as no real money trade and account trade is involved, it is fine to pass guild leadership for ingame gold, although one would have to wonder what the guild mates might think of being sold to another player as their guildleader (if the guild is active) ^^

Personally I would prefer if the guild leadership stays with a guild member which most can agree upon to have as their leader and not being sold to someone else who did not invest time into the guild and befriend the other members. But that would be my opinion.

There can be perfectly legitimate reasons to sell a guild.

At one point my guild merged into another guild. The old guild was well built up and relatively high level; once we merged, it was dormant, with only some alts left around and a few inactives that we hoped would log on and come over to new guild.

Then another guild split up, and the splinter faction wanted a new guild. They did not want to build it from scratch and sink all the money and resources into leveling castle, my old guild leader still had control of a good guild castle. So, it was a good match. They got a good new home, we got some in-game loot (well, my guild ex-leader did, the lil greedy !@#%, we did not. :p).
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

thank you very much for the reply Dionaea! and im pretty sure from the worldshouts the guildmates would like their guildback, but sounds like the leader got drunk kicked them and rage quit
