Runes of Magic US / AU

In it's essense rom really hasnt changed all that much. It's mostly a bit of the old story: new lvl cap, new instances, new geartreadmill. Though they are some changes that aren't seen in any chapter, since you said you left when IV was released you'll have 2 new classes to explore and play as well as a new race.

Community on my server (Isiltir) is bit smaller than at the start of chapter IV, dont know how it goes for german servers but overall all european servers lost a bit of their playersbase. (i am from Europe so i cant give you any good information on playerbases on the US servers im afraid)

There are still a lot of bugs and unfinished stuff in the game, just like it has always been, and the input of community ideas by developers is very scarce, if even non-existent ( i know you said dont answer, but i did it anyway :p )

Basically the population has quit due to horrid customer service, awful item shop/diamond sales, lack of bugs being fixed for months on end. The gear treadmill is worse than you remember due to just about needing to +16 all your gear now. If you aren't willing to be mediocre or spend ALOT of real life cash, it's just not worth coming back to imo. Most stuff in the AH is multiple millions (at least on Govinda), I don't mean 2 million.... I mean a fully statted +16 KBNH (the newest instance) chest piece selling for 400 million. Maybe if you're lucky you can find that same chest under dura for ... oh say 290 million. In essence the game costs (in and out) have exploded from what you probably remember.

Siege = much much much worse than you remember.

KS is hardly ever run anymore, most people jump directly to Hall of Survivors or higher. Mages in general aren't top dps, but certain combos are VERY strong. Mage/Warrior is the top mage dps, but Rogue/Warlock is pretty high on the dps list.

There are pro's, and there are con's. RoM is still unfixed, and there are still plenty of "why do I even play this game?" moments, but in the end, we still really enjoy playing this old clunker despite our complaints and all the negative comments.

Item Shop:

Puris are now permanently 19 diamonds, no need to wait for sales. AT charges are also permanently 1 diamond each (same price as 50% sale before), and half a diamond each during sale.

But, double diamonds are now rare, and plussing items are a pain without perfects. Ruby prices are astronomical and sales no longer give rubies.

Statting: Come on, you don't need KBN Hard gear lol. Shell gear will do, and even world boss gear, on par with KBN-H (almost?) can be obtained for 15m rather than 400m. X stats, which are quite decent, drop off new zone and can be bought for less than 300k, and is decent for 2-4 filler stats (or in the case of healer, you can stat completely with X stats).

Siege, agreed. Spell delays are horrifying, and can happen at random where actions happen seconds or even minutes after you click on them. But less crashes now, at least for me.

There is also a 3rd class option (with no additonal quests aside from a new starter zone to level 50 ish). The gap between the quests and being able to keep both classes fairly close is getting larger. You will see many many people running around with 75/50/50 for their classes due to basically needing to level your 2nd and 3rd classes off of dailies alone. If my memory is correct going from 60 - 61 with the butterfly dailies (the best one at that range) still takes about 2 weeks (or something close ot it) to gain 1 level for your secondary or third.

You *can* use the shell gear the above poster talked about, but you are losing out on set bonuses and what not. Shell gear is ok for filler gear but it's pretty average for normal everyday gear if you intend on really being able to run any of the 12 mans without being carried through. The stats that were talked about, sure you can use them, just remember they are about the 3rd or 4th best type of stat you can get. You can stat much better using the shell/mento stats than you can with the yellow X stats. Come back, try it out, but don't be surprised.

These days, 50m is basically being broke. Top tier players with lots of gold have multiple gold caps (999,999,999 is that cap).

Yeah, I don't know..both you guys kinda scared the heck out of me, seems daunting to be anywhere near "ok" in terms of running dungeons... I know a lot of people can solo dungeons that used to be hard.. But I guess at level 75 level 57 bosses dont seem to hard...

You can still try it, one thing you really should know, at least on Govinda; when you shouted in zone back when you played people would respond. It's to the point now where depending on the time of the day, you might be able to play for hours in a single zone and not see anyone else. Many zone shouts go totally un-answered. Some of that is people are a lot less helpful than they used to be (I played since open beta) or there are just plain hardly anyone playing at all anymore.

I'm not trying to scare you off, just be real and no sugarcoat what you're probably going to experience. Granted different servers are different, but overall it's not that far off.

Don't guess you guys know any on Palenque? If that don't work out I may consider a fresh restart, don't guess its that bad to level,since I did a little recon seems like some Heiffer Camp at level 20/20 opens up for speed leveling...Apparently thats if you wish to botch the 3rd class, but I read that was only for people that didnt like there dual class as it was...

I don't play at all anymore, only log in to chat with friends anymore. That's on Govinda (which is kinda dead). Heffner was designed with higher than normal xp/tp to help people level their 3rd classes to 50 ish. The transport to Heffner opens up after you get 20/20 and do a simple quest in the Admin hall in Varanas. You can easily level up a class in Heffner, but after that the xp/tp will drop back down to normal which will seem like it takes forever to level after Heffner.

What do you play then? Seems like I have done a lot of reading and know a lot more than the normal person would coming back.. I have had all but 4 days while it was downloading and now patching to research tho LOL...

Not sure where I will go if this fails to amuse me like it once did...Pretty sure I left RoM due to crap arse people on Palenque..Not sure tho, probably a rage moment, but it did last about 2 years...In which I never found another mmo to keep me tied down to it..

Not playing anything at the moment. Decided real life need my attention more than a video game.
