Holy Pet Eggs - probability and help

Hey all, need help with this system. I'm on Thalia Server, Australia

So I stuffed up and merged my new holy pet with my collector pet YIKES so I'm after a new holy pet egg - either light or earth. I'm so dense.

I'm after either a Fell Snake, Rainbow Falcon, Executioner Puppet, Forrest Leopard, or Hawk in order of preference. Don't really want to use dias as I'm running low.

I've farmed hundreds, maybe thousands of eggs on different alts and spent most of my time on it, but not one holy egg, and only TWO golden magic cavies which gave horrible rune eggs. The site http://www.runesofmagic.com/pets.html gives probability and states there's a 15% change of a cavy, and 5% chance of a golden magic cavy if the monster is 9 or fewer levels than you.

Rubbish.

I reckon it's more like 1% for a cavy and 0.1% for a golden magic cavy.

As a result I'm struggling to get holy pet eggs. Any tips? I've done the obvious things like asking around, AH, but no luck.

Executioner Puppets are quite rare from what I've seen, unlike the Rainforest Hunter look-a-likes. I used a pot for mine, but yeah, AV is the best place for high quality eggs (although, AV also drops the highest eggs. a level 30 holy wouldn't do you much good), followed by Weeping Coast. There's very frequent cavy spawns in those zones, and they're often better quality than eggs you'll get in THH+.

Honestly though, in the time it takes you to happen to get a holy egg of one of the few kinds you want, you could farm enough money for probably 10 transformation pots, or gotten one of those eggs from someone else for just a few mil. Just saying. No one really tries grinding cavies for a specific type of holy pet...the AH or world chat is much better to use for that.

Lemme ask this to the OP: Is farming cavies the most profitable farming you're capable of doing? Several people have suggested zones to go to and that you can do better by being of appropriate level. Is it the most profitable use of your time once you do those things?

Diamonds can be bought for gold. Holy Pet egg can be bought for gold, diamonds, whatever. Trying to farm a specific egg such as this sounds to me like an incredibly long and wasteful thing to do. Just farm whatever is most profitable and fun instead and buy egg/transform potion.

OK, I did that, and will work on aptitude levelling form now. One further question though to patch up a hole in my understanding of this system.

If the main holy pet is 77 apt and you raise it to say 90+, if you merge it with a pet to level it and the pet you are merging with has an apt less than 90, does it reduce the main pet's aptitude from 90, or does it stay at 90? Done a lot of reading and this is the only question I'm unsure of.

Thanks for your help all. I appreciate it.

Aptitude always goes up, or stays same. Never down.

Have fun chain merging.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

Thanks my friend. And yes, I think luck is key. There was only one earth egg in AH between level 1 and 2. This could take a while hahahha, best start collecting those badges for neutralisation bars!!

Thanks for the answer, too - makes the process much easier knowing that. This whole pet thingy is very new.

Neutralization bars? What are you planning to do with those?

Let's see if i can do the "cliff notes" version of pet raising - you'll notice that neutralization bars aren't mentioned anywhere. This assumes you want a truly great pet at the end, you can get a lesser one for less effort if you want.

1) Acquire Holy pet egg. Get the correct element to suit your class - earth or light, as you said. Low level, up to 5 perhaps, 1 ideally. During level up stats will be gained according to pet type and aptitude - this is why Holy and low level are important.
2) Raise pet aptitude to 100. Avoid leveling up as much as possible. This can be done a couple of ways:
- Merge in pet with higher aptitude than your holy pet.
- Use Awakening Potion to trade Training for Aptitude.
The first option is faster and easier, but causes your pet to gain experience - you don't want that yet.
3) After 100 aptitude, get experience and talent points for your pet. Merging sacrificial pets in is good. Buying Miller Cakes from the pet vendor is another way. Also, you can use Enhancement Potions to trade Training for Talent Points.

Some key techniques:
- If you sacrifice (merge) one trash pet to another trash pet, the end result is an accumulation of training points. After many trash-to-trash merges, you do 1 merge into your main pet to give it all the training but only 1 portion of experience. Good during phase 2 above (under 100 apt) when you want Training but not Experience for your main pet. Also useful later to shovel many trash pet's training into the main pet without going over the 3 merge per day limit.
- Do the golden egg quest in Miller's Ranch once a day to trade for Awakening or Enhancement Potions. These potions can also be bought for Diamonds, or the Enhancement one can be bought with Badge of Honor from siege.
- At high levels, or once you have bought all the sacrificial pets available, you will need to feed Miller Cakes to your pet to level up. Keep in mind that 100 cakes costs 350k gold and is the equivalent of an equal level Rune pet. For this reason you should never pay more than 350k for a sacrificial pet egg (exception if it's going to raise the main pet's aptitude).

Yeah, in Thalia (Australia), there's not many eggs in AH for chaining (my holy is lvl 2, and I'd like to raise aptitude first as you say) so I'll probably end up farming eggs. In AH yesterday there was only 1 - and that's only the third I've found all week. There's very little chance of getting enough level 1 and 2 earth eggs to get enough training points on this server within the next 20 years, so I'm opening more breeding slots and buying and farming another element. When it's sufficiently high enough I'll neutralise the element and merge it with the other chain, then the holy. Only way I can think of doing it other than waiting months from what I've read in internetworld and the good folks on the forum.

Many good tips above. Thanks for this. I got other tips elsewhere, too. And I'm trusting there'll be a sale on the real good pets transformy-things during this time, eg, that puppet executioner one. Currently got a weird dog looking thing that looks like my aunt.
