diamond npc's discussion

my opinion on this is that the price of diamond's will sky rocket. No average person will be able to afford anything or be able to plan on buying anything from the item shop without the diamond npc's presence. This makes the ah house the primary way to obtain diamonds. Currently most players are using the ah for sort term solutions for a sale here and there but are relying on the npc's everyday. Taking these away will do nothing for the economy as the price per diamond-> gold is already well regulated.

I'd have to stay it's a pretty stupid idea to take it out. That diamond npc did absolutely nothing for the price of diamonds. People still charge whatever the hell they want for them.

It is the 3rd gold sink to be removed from the game. Welcome back hyperinflation.

I forsee the glorious return of scammers... Not to mention the audacity of gold sellers that put bot spammers on varanas bridge.

I don't know about servers other than my home server of Reni, but introduction of Cedric did not really move the dia prices much. Nor AH dia trading for that matter. Prices are different, of course, but that seems to be due to regular economic fluctuations, not the NPC or AH trading.

The only factor I saw was that had effect on dia prices is AAH fix. With so many people running AAH, trading in dias picked up quite a bit when they released the change. Thanks, guys.

Anyway, has it been experience on other servers? Has Cedric or AH trading moved the prices that are clearly attributable to them (and not overall economy) on your server? Or is this more chicken-littleism?

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

Of course it made it big difference. There were people with dozens of accounts getting access to over 100Ds a day to do what they wanted - at least 1000 diamonds a week. This allowed them to create and buy equipment that anyone else, that is not doing this, would be unable to make. One guy that I know back when there were 15Ds a day per account was getting nearly 500Ds a day, nearly 3500 a week.

Thankfully they are getting rid of it.

I have to agree with the pink hat.... Never really noticed much of a change market wise on Govinda anyway.

I do not think we will really know until we do. I anticipate diamond prices will rise, it seems to make sense. More from teh low volume buyers than the high end. I know several people who would buy their 3 per day and resell them on the AH to make some profit. This I think served some purpose towards keeping AH diamond prices lower, because their initial investment was low. People who pay hard cash for their diamonds, I think, may be a little more reluctant to let go of them.

God forbid people be able to get diamonds to be able to gear themselves without getting raped by high ah prices. I wouldn't want something like that to to happen.

The vendor literally did nothing for diamond prices on artemis. when i returned to play late last year the prices were 30k each. now they are up to 55-60k and have stayed there

Dias on Reni used to be 60-100k per, then we got the dia sellers in Varanas, and they dropped to 40-50k. but now with them gone, idk if I'll continue to play. I used to buy my dias from other people, as well as from Rom, but I will no longer buy any. So as their money goes down from the others like me, we'll see how they like things being taken away, ie, their paycheck.

Sort of sad to try to do anything this way. To start with you would have to have unlimited gold and time. Even with only 10 accounts you have to spend 8,000,000 gold ever day just to get 3 diamonds on each account. At then end of a week you would have spent 56,000,000 gold to get 21 diamonds on 10 accounts which is not enough to buy anything. That is without the time spent running all the accounts and moving the gold. It would be far cheaper and easier to use the same amount of gold to buy the items in the Auction House.

The diamond NPC was a great aid to those who had no other way to get diamonds even at a high price and when the rare true sale or special came around you didn't have to rely on player to player trades which far too often were scams. The scammers wanted the diamond NPC gone and got their way.

The dias and AH sales were initiated in Australia a few months ago and dia prices tripled quickly. In saying that, they're only 30k per atm. Such a small server - I remember dias going for 8-9k per before Cedric and AH trading!!
