Is it worth it?

Hey everyone, it's been a while.

So I have a question:

I quit runes of magic a few years ago now, and I'm debating on coming back again. The problem with this is, I'm not fully sure anything has gotten better from when I quit. I was wondering about the following, and if anyone could help me out at all, it would be awesome!

1) Is customer support still virtually non-existent? I know RoM is being run by another company now, but is that for better or worse?
2) Is it still impossible to play endgame without spending money?
3) What is the state on class balancing issues?
4) Is siege war still in beta?

Thanks for taking the time to read this over everyone :)

Customer support is still crap, things are still broken, you can get end game if you hoard gold to buy dias from endgamers who sell for absurd prices, classes seem as balanced as they've ever been minus the aggro miscalc ( idk if that's been fixed yet) and pretty sure sw is, but I cant remember.

but it is still technically free to play.

and it beats playing WoW..... so take your pick

Not exactly sure when you quit, so pardon me if some of this isn't news to you. Wall-of-text incoming.

1.) It's more non-existent than it used to be. Gameforge is worse than Frogster ever was.

2.) It was never impossible. If you only played from Chapter 4 onward, then you'll notice that prices have actually improved. The prices in early/mid Chapter 4 were absolutely ridiculous due to the massive inflation; it's calmed down quite a bit since then, though still nowhere near the pre-inflation prices.

That said, diamonds are on the AH now, which makes it a tad bit more convenient. There are very cheap stats that drop off of high level blue gear that can get you a pretty large boost pretty quickly (sold for ~100-500k each, at least on Osha).

Puris were reduced in price in the CS, so the price in the sale packages (125 per pack of 5) we used to have in the Frogster era is actually a bit higher than the normal price now (19 dias). Several other items in the CS were reduced in price, as well as a few things in the ptoken shop, while other things in the diamond shop were increased significantly (most noticeably, Daily Reset Tickets). Ruby shop prices were jacked up, though, and rubies are now much harder to get.

Overall the in-game cost of gearing isn't too bad, but it will take a while if you're planning on grinding the money up as an f2p player rather than buying your way to the top gear/stats.

3.) Classes are more balanced than they've ever been. There's not a single class that isn't viable -- just some of the hybrid class combos are still useless (though several have actually been made viable).

The introduction of the 60+70 elites recently helped some class combos quite a bit, too. You can see what they are on the wiki. Unfortunately, there's still no easy way to level second/third classes.

4.) They will forever be hiding behind the "It's in BETA" excuse. They have fixed a few things, such as skills that ignored line-of-sight, and buffing guards/making gates immune to HoTs and bleeds. Overall, siege is a bit more reliable than it used to be, but strange lag still happens somewhat often to random players.

Hope some of this helped. ~

1. Customer support is even more dead than it was in the Frogster era. Honestly you'd have an easier time getting a monkey to excrete gold bricks than getting a response that isn't beating around the bush, or even a response at all for that matter. As of the last 5 weeks, the main quest line has been broken without repair, thoroughly quest-locking anyone around level 55. That should give you some insight to GameForge's motivation to keep this game running.

2. Like previous posters say, it's gotten better but it's also gotten worse. Commodities such as purified fusion stones have been re-priced and are far cheaper than before. That being said, lots of items have been removed from the shop, some prices have been increased and ruby prices are INSANE. Plussing equipment is an adventure of its own for those who didn't stock up on the better refining gems from Frogster's reign. Advanced Bind Lifters have been removed from the item shop as well without explanation only to occasionally pop up during a 'sale' leaving players who relied on selling equipment from instances in the dust.

3. Classes are fairly well balanced, of course there will be classes that are a higher DPS than others but it tends to be determined by the quality of the gear you have. Warrior Mage is the popular DPS trend at the moment but either they'll be nerfed or something better will pop up and people will abandon them too at some point. Tanks have seen new arrivals with the seriously OP champion/rogue and the more challenging Warden/Warrior.

4. Siege is still *sigh* in beta. Still tons of people abusing the mechanics of it and everyone calling each other hackers. Over the past months priest/scouts have been known to dominate siege war with their Iceblade. No one likes an iceblader except other icebladers.

forgot to mention ruby bonus was removed for token shop, and prices of token shop more than tripled

Welcome back to RoM!

Each person comes into a game with different expectations.
Each person also responds differently based on expectations.
If you are returning after several years, then you are in for a treat with the introduction of 2 new races and land areas.

I have never had a problem with RoM so I have never employed or submitted a ticket to speak of CS
Endgame is possible without cash shop if you got good gear and a good group to back you up.

Classes remain good in balance in my opinion
