When using the ingame screenshot function by pressing print screen, the image is saved as a .bmp. Is there a way to change this so the image is saved in a different format, specifically one that is accepted by the forums and ticket reporting support portal?

To my knowledge, this is not changeable, but opening it with even MS Paint will allow you to save with a different file type, and drastically cut the size of the file to boot.

I use snipping tool, it is a windows feature. Takes pretty good screenshots.

Another program that takes good Screenshots is Fraps. Fraps isnt cheap, but it has an unpaid version that does screenshots just fine. The difference between the paid and the free is how long it records a video. Having fraps is good for reporting issues in game, because support wont take your word for anything.

there is a way...some lua i saw somewhere in an addon. lemme look around..i think it was valicar's code, one of the addon writers from beta/ch1. aka duppy

I think XFire takes screenshots in PNG format, I gotta check...
