monster cards

can someone explain to me how this system works? are there temporary and permanent cards because i just added one to my book although it still says 48 out of however many there are available. One would think and assume that once you add it to your book it stays there and gets added to overall progression.

Once you add it, it stays there. You get what ever bonus from having it and it remains in your..uhh.. monster thingo. You can remove the card but that's optional.

I wish you got more from cards though... I have a total of 706 cards atm and only get like 240 points into each stat :(
