But...forum says you've been here since Feb 2009, wth like BETAtimes, you're so not new "new"...lol what r U doing on this sub-forum... O_o.... u got an acct longer than mine O_O

IIRC, I beta-tested RoM and then played for about a month, then left. Recently I got an email from RoM announcing some new update and, being bored with SWToR and GW2, I decided to go back and give it another look. I think playing the game a month and then being gone for 4 years pretty much qualifies me as a "new" player...:D

I wouldn't worry about that either way. The pet you can get with that is not a very good main pet anyway. You won't need to worry about pets until at least level 70. And even then, you'll get much more benefit from the same amount of gold from statting gear and tiering weapons first.

I'd disagree with this. The easiest way to make that gold is by using traps to get pet eggs and selling them. You may not need that pet egg for yourself, but you definitely need to know how to capture them. You can make several hundred thousand gold in profits selling the Rune and Holy pet eggs on the AH. You can make several tens of thousands in profit selling the Amazing and Natural eggs. The traps are pricey for a low level, but once you get that first purple or orange rune pet egg and sell it, they get to look a lot cheaper.

I used to farm pet eggs. Once you sell first as Miladian said, you will not worry about price of traps, and you will learn to carry 10 or more all the time. There is only 1 fail element (Wind) that you either throw away or use on your own alts... they do not sell at all. All other sell, and some of them for quite high amount. Once you move to SL, that is where pet farming really starts to pay off. High level pets will drop all the time, and those should sell for 100-300K. Some n00bs might put 350K and higher price - but that really does not make much sense, as the same result can be then used with miller cake, and those eggs are in AH for very long time.200-300K for 8k investment is not bad. And if you get high aptitude (some 99 apt) or holy pet, now you can sell it for mil or more, depending on element and server.

It is never too early to start on your own pet, as long as you know what are you doing. First pet really does not matter, should be any element and should be ONLY working pet, used for crafting. Next pet has to be in your element, and should be Holy with as high apt as you can get, but still low level. How to make it into end game pet, rusty explained very well in his guide.

I'm still fairly new to pets & pet eggs, may I ask what makes the orange or brown Rune pet eggs so special? Is it because they have 4s, 5s, or 6s for every stat?

If you merge any pet with rune pet egg, you get double TP over other pets (100 vs 50) and one with higher +3 stats will for some time give you extra stats.

Another one that is most desirable is blue - high aptitude pet. Those sell always for much more then other pets just because rising aptitude is long costly process.

Thanking you.

I knew about the High Apt and the 100TP, but I didn't know about the extra stats. I currently am building up some level 1 rune pets using the daisy chain method to feed to my new Holy pet with a 84 Apt, but I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to hold out long enough to get his Apt up to 100 before I start training him. :)

Especially with 350 golden eggs from this event in my pocket. They're going to be burning a hole, I tell ya. :)

Make sure you don't burn golden eggs that much by feeding it to pet...

What you like to do is chain-marge as you planned, but with your class element pets. Get TR to 10K, merge that monster pet with your main (still has to be the same or even better if lower level) and then go to miller ranch and exchange many times 3 golden eggs for pot to increase apt. So in your case, 48 eggs for that are required.

Once done, pet has 8 passive skills, each require 500TP to unlock. To turn 500 TR in 100TP points you need yet another pot that costs 2 golden eggs. So 10 eggs for each passive skill learned. 8x5 = 40, so you are in need of another 400 eggs to get all passive unlocked...

So in overall, to get most out of your pet you need 448 golden, about 100 more then you will get from this event if you get them every day.

I wish they make golden eggs unbound again, now that it is impossible to bot miller ranch...

One thing I forgot to mention about pets, if you're into crafting, you can send a pet off to do all the harvesting for you while you play. This way you don't have to waste time gathering materials for crafting. Although it takes forever for a pet to level up its gathering skills, it's all free time for you anyways. The tools can be expensive starting out, but you'll be making enough money to cover that with the pet eggs you're selling. :)
