correct me if I'm wrong

extracting a level 75 piece of equipment will give you the same tier as what level the piece of equipment is. So let's try figuring this out. I have a tier 3 mana stone with savage x, hammer x, & observance x. How is it possible for me to get anything less then a tier five unless by some quest or special green bound level 75 item that would give you a tier 4. Is it even possible to get a tier three sone like that?

The tier of the mana stone when you stone an item is the item's "tier level" (natural level + rarity bonus) divided by 20 plus 1. Rarity bonus is 8 for blues. So, Level 74 gear for X stats + 8 bonus = 82 "tier level", then 82 divided by 20 is 4, and plus one makes it tier 5.

So, how did you get T3 mana stone with X stats? Simple. Stats were put on item with "tier level" in range of 41 to 60. Most likely that was L41-60 white item, and white items have 0 rarity bonus. So, when that got stoned, you get T3 stone with X stats.

That is why it does not pay to extract stats out of low level items. You get the stats, sure, but then you need to tier them up with blank mana stones to bring them back to tier they started with, and that costs puries. Stoning item with tier level of 41-60 means you need 8 blanks to get back to T5, not a minor expense.

And if you ever feel like stoning wings... you get a useless T1.

Edit: fixed the problem pointed at by smart alecky guildie and rewrote things to make it clearer, I hope.

Silly Rustyx, it is divided by 20 that makes 4. (just as you said in sentence before it)

This is why blue gear in KBNE and up is great for Tiering up the gear. Same results with 1/3 of AT charges (and rest of cost is 1/3 as well)

In an attempt to clarify Rusty's Fan-like post... :D

The base (original) tier of the gear piece you "extracted" (stoned) the listed stats from is what counts. If the gear piece was *originally* tier 3, you will get a tier 3 mana stone out of the AT when you "extract" the stats with a Purified Fusion Stone in the AT. It makes no difference whatsoever what tier the stats were on their native gear pieces. X stats come from blue level 75, tier 4 gear. When extracted, the stats become tier 5 mana stones.

So, if you used the X runes to stat up a tier 3 gear piece, it would become a tier 5 piece. But, if you extract the stats, they become tier 3 mana stones *because* the base tier of the gear piece was tier 3.

Is that a bit less murky?
