2H Hammers

Will 2H hammers have any viable applications? Only 3 classes can use them and one of the classes basically can't since their skills rely heavily on shields. Overall, they fall short when compared to any other class of 2H weapon.

I'm currently using a yellow-T9'd +16 108 dura Heurton's Basher with my warrior, and I got it for obscenely cheap since no one uses hammers.

2h Hammer is used by Champion/not-rogue. It's the best option for them. But very very few people playing those combos. I'm actually doing it for C/M now though.

I suppose others could technically use it... But every scenario I can think of has a better weapon of different type. I bet they were thinking along this line when made champion with the hammer skill.

RW could make an interesting change to K/P. Give them an elite that alters shield mastery to add 2-h hammer protection mastery... 2-h hammer magic damage x 10 is added to pdef & 2-h hammer magic damage is added to parry. Every increase in shield mastery increases the 2-h hammer protection %.

Then give them an elite that changes Blessed Spring water to cloak the knight's weapon in water magic. Every hit has +% of whatever water resistance there is.

but yeah, hammers really have nowhere to go.

We have a champ/warrior who uses one. Champions with thier hammer mastery makes it useful.

Shouldnt 2-h hammers be stronger in terms of dps? Or what is their real benefit?

I think there's a real issue w/ the weapons in RoM. RW puts them in, but like a lot of things, they have 0 purpose.

Case in point -- resistances... soo worthless.

RW should make certain mobs resistant to different forms of attack. ie, Undead types traditionally take less damage from sharp weapons than blunt ones. Something like -50% damage if not hit by 1-h hammer or 2-h hammer. In this case, a hammer 1-h or 2-h would do more damage than axes/swords. RW should love this suggestion, people would need to carry around multiple weapons for different situations.

I'm sure we could think up long lists of mobs that should have weapon resistances to make certain things better than others.

or... just give Knights and Priests 1-h/2-h hammer mastery... give Druids dagger mastery... stuff that makes sense.
