registering to play on US server

How do you actually get an account on the US servers? I have registered on GameForge and have an account there and I have also sucessfully registered this forum account, but whenever I try to make a ROM account on the website by clicking "register" I get the page that says "Thanks for your interest! Unfortunately your country is not part of our publishing territory."

I'm sure that someone out there has a workaround, but the sticky for getting started should probably be updated to include whatever workaround is required to get your account registered :)

It appears that for some reason my IP address was not being read correctly by the system becuase when I used my work VPN to register it was accepted...
