Gathering

I got to level 20 in all gathering skills and went to the trainers for the next level and my woodcutting didn't go after I turned in what they asked for. I'm not sure how to proceed now

May have to try again, or just start collecting and see if it starts giving XP.
I've had it take a while to 'kick in' on a couple of my alts.
