I bring you peace and prosperity!

Not really, but I am new to the game and wanted some questions to be answered :P Some background info before I get started.

I've spent the last 6 years with mostly MMORPG games; I've played well over 50+ mmorpg's such as WoW, Rift, Allods, RS, Forsaken World, Requiem the list goes on. I tell you this because... well, not sure to be honest, but I figured it would make this game easier, though it seems quite unique. Onwards to the questions!

1. I understand that you pick multiple classes in this game which allows you to create a unique play style and skill set for your character. I've always fancied Healers and characters that vomit DPS on people. As I look through the class specific sections, I'd love to have some recommendations for this particular play style as well as others that are simply fun to play, but don't relate to healing and massive dps. ( FYI,I love pvp)

2. As with many f2p mmo's there is a cash shop. Will I toss my wallet at this company to have outstanding gear? Or can I obtain it by simply playing the game?

3. What is the community like? I admit I am a bit biased when it comes to games as the vocal minority tends to stick out which gives other people the impression a game is filled with mostly pesky children. Though clearly this isn't the case for a lot of communities.

4. Is the content evenly spread out in ROM? Will I rush to the level caps to enjoy content? Or will I receive a steady stream of awesomeness through-out the game?

5. Grinding... the evil word that instils fear into the hearts of gamers. Will I level up through mobs? Or by questing and doing dungeons?

These are the most important to me, so I would greatly appreciate assistance! I look forward to seeing some of you in-game :D

im here to inform you that these are very touchy questions, its late for me so im headed to sleep and cant answer them all for you but others can and will...

dont be surprised by the answers...

to sum it all up though, this game is not cheap to play, has many good/bad people, alot of broken content, and issues with leveling skills, but if you do stick around and play you will like it at least up until level 60-ish, give it a shot before you turn it down though, you never know unless you try.

pesky children? i ain't no...

1) p/w is fun, as are most hybrids, but they suck on all ends of the spectrum(tanking, dps, healing)...i prefer s/d and r/d, but thats just me...top dps atm is r/m, and for healers, d/w, d/wdn, d/s, p/k are all good.

2) it is kinda pay to win, even though you can obtain all the items through ingame means...

3) community is great

4) steady stream of awesomeness...been playing for 3 years, not level cap yet, and i still have fun ;)

5) no need to grind until endgame...
my r/p can outdps r/m. your name is stupid.

mages should stack dex. word.

1) Healer and DPS... you are probably looking at M/D (pretty potent PVP DPS) , switching to D/M or D/something else for heals

2) Yes, there is cash shop, of course. Nothing is locked to it, but people who don't spend any money, or very little, have to be prepared to spend a lot of time getting resources. Still, F2P is possible if you are good, although you won't be as OP as someone who is just as good and pays.

3) There are some guilds that are more laid back, some very driven, some mild, some edgy... It is what you pick it to be. FWIW, I would say average age of our guild is mid-40s, although we do have some "pesky children" too.

4) Content to the cap is good, but very rarely run these days. You won't see a lot of people clearing it. Some of the better instances/zones/questlines are mid-game, IMO.

5) ROM is very light on grind. XP/Levels is questing. Crafting might be a bit grindy, but not too bad. There are no "kill 100 mobs", as most you have 20ish, with average 5-10. Can you grind your way? Sure, if you want to max out your toon, there are some minor advantages to be had. For example skills in the game (spells/attacks, etc) are using something called TP. People are always short on TP to max out everything. Can you grind TP? Sure... if it bothers you that skill X is Level 79 and not 80. But, it makes virtually no difference in real play. Just do your daily quests, you will have enough TP - especially if you pick a combo that is not TP-heavy.

Oh, and (6) Reni is the best server. There is Reni, and there are servers wishing they were Reni. Go to Reni.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

If you play a couple of hours per day, you should be max level in about 3 weeks or so. As for grinding, this game is very light on it. Most of your leveling will come from doing quests, which follow a chain so its really easy to level. Also don't forget to do daily quests, which help a lot when leveling the second class. As for the item shop, yea the whole game is f2p and nothing is locked but you might want to open your wallet a couple of times (make use of diamond sales which happen pretty frequent). Content wise generally the last instances are run but your guild can do lower level ones to help you gear out or to complete quests. As someone mentioned already, the concept of a hybrid class, although fun, doesn't work too well here. Either you are DPS or Healer, but I don't recommend both. Some classes can heal and do some damage but this game ultimately is about specialization.

PS. The game doesn't really start until you are level 50. That's where the fun really begins and the fast leveling.

i honestly can't stress this enough...so many people skip 99% of the game racing to be endgame...then they what...run instances and pvp...which can be done at any level, and still have the same amount of fun...

I expected some leveling before things got fun. Good to know that f2p peeps can still enjoy the game though :D That's a deal breaker for me.

Anything else I should know before jumping in?

Thanks for the information!

I have to agree with the answers to 4 given by others.

It's disappointing to see the rush to endgame and lots of players miss some of the greatest stuff ingame.

To comment on another question:
You can quest completely to level cap without having to open your wallet once. However, the Cash Shop in RoM will allow you to develop your gear to be a competitive endgame instance-runner. This can be done by using your wallet or by spending time ingame grinding for Phirius Tokens or gold, which can later be traded via the Auction House for diamonds..

As others things got answered, let me concentrate on 3rd question...

It is unfortunate that IMHO community is much better then game status atm.

I see that GF is trying, but so did Frogster EU before them try as hard as they could, and we still have some of the same problems we had 2 years ago.

Don't get me wrong, game is great, but community is really better part of the game.
