Coming back to RoM...have some questions

Hi, I used to play Runes of Magic a few years ago but quit because I felt it was too hard to level. For example I'd spend a few days leveling up my main to 20 for example and then out of nowhere I'd have to get ANOTHER class up to level 20, and now with the addition of a third class I have to get yet another class up to 20.

(All this got hella annoying when you had to level up a priest lol)

At the time I found it pointless because I'm leveling up each class to 20 when my main class could of been at 60 by that time if that makes sense.

Maybe I was going about things the wrong way when I used to play....do you you have any advice on how you level?

Has the game gotten easier to level?

Does the game still feel grindy at times? I remember even though I had quests, they were all basically the same thing...kill 10 monsters go back....kill another 10 go back. It got boring after awhile.

Have they added more lower level raids/dungeons?

Hows the community?

Thanks! :)

Leveling in ROM has always been easy. Much easier now for those who choose to use that horribly unbalance self-powerlevel zone CoO and Xaviera. The primary class at least, the secondary needs lots of daily XP. Third class is a waste of XP for someone who is that low. Use that XP for main/second.

ROM is very far from grindy as MMOs go. There are many more far more grindy games. ROM is pretty quest focused, and keeps grind only for those insane souls who are trying to get Akeli The Sage (extremely rare mob) card (extremely rare drop). And, I bet there are people like that.

No new lower levels instances. The ones that are there are hardly ever run.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

I never thought of myself as insane..but just saying, I have been offered 500M gold and I still refuse. I believe it is one of only 8 or so that have dropped on Artemis.

actually, the card drop rate for those "extremely rare mobs" are relatively high(i think as high as 50% for the really rare ones like hillarzu/akeli).

and before ch3, apparently ALL card drop rates were higher(did not go into the fractions of a % we see now)...and honor party was a whole lot more effective for farming...(according to paz)
my r/p can outdps r/m. your name is stupid.

How do you guys go about leveling your main and alt class? And do you ignore your third class?

When Im leveling should I try to keep the levels of the classes 10 levels apart or...?

There are plenty of ingame quests available to get your 3 classes to 50-ish but after that you need to take more care about levelling as you will find that you only have enough main quests to level 1 class with some leftover for the second.

Your third class gets the seperate zones CoO and Xaviera, which easily gets it to level 50.

For you main class, Silverspring (to 19) -> Aslan Valley (to 30) -> Ystra (to 35ish) -> Dust Devil canyon (to 38ish) Ravenfell (to 53ish)-> Weeping Coast (to 55) and so on. There are most than enough quests to get you to max level on one class easily, even if you don't do dailies or grind mobs.

Second class is a bit of a pain. You also get seperate zones to level it; reinfort and Dragonfang Ridge, which gets you to 35 or so. From there on, probably easier to turn in level 45 quests once you get Dust devil Canyon. Or, just use third class as second class (since you can get that to 50 easily and get most your elites) and leave your second class at 35 until you can afford powerleveling to 50.

And honestly, you dont HAVE to level up all 3 classes at the same time. There's nothing wrong with leveling just 1 class at a time. Sure, you miss out on some elite skills, but those aren't gamebreaking at low levels anyway.

How long has it been since you took a character through those zones?

MAIN CLASS
  • 1-10 = Howling Mountains / Elven Island / Yrvandis Hollows
  • 10-20 = Silverspring
  • 20-30 = Aslan Valley
  • 30-40 = Ystra Highlands
  • 40-50 = Dust Devil Canyon
  • 50-52 = Weeping Coast
  • 52-54 = Savage Lands
  • 54-55 = Aotulia Volcano
  • 55+ = Thunderhoof Hills and Beyond.

SECOND CLASS
  • 1-20 = Sascilia Steppes
  • 20-30 = Dragonfang Ridge
  • 30-45 = Daily Quests from other zones
  • 45-50 = Ravenfell (and a wee bit more of Dragonfang Ridge)

THIRD CLASS
  • 1-42 = Coast of Opportunity
  • 42-50 = Xaviera

These level ranges are approximate - you may find yourself getting to 22 or 23 in Silverspring for example and quests start to open up at 2 levels below their intended level. Also, just because Runewaker designed the zones to be used in that way doesn't mean you have to use them that way.

WOW! Thanks a ton!

That leveling outline is VERY helpful as when I was playing I was sort of lost on where to go next and such.

The ingame quest-texts lead you from zone to zone. However, not many of us actually read stuff in games and prefer instad to KILL, KILL, KILL!!!

Check out http://www.romhiddenquests.tk as well - some useful info there about hidden quests that don't show up.

55-57 = Thunderhoof
57-58 = sjf
58-60 = njf
60-62 = limo
63-65 = lom
65-67 = redhills
67-70 = tb
71-72 = akor
72-75 = chrysalia
75-77 = tundra
77-80 = srybal
80-82 = sarlo
83-85 = fjord

As long as you are doing the toni/morrick quest line, there should be more than enough yellow quest to exceed these levels for each zone. Usually there are enough to get 3 levels worth of exp in these ranges, which greatly helps with the secondary. Of course if using an exp event, or other modifiers, will net event more level gains.

54-56 = Thunderhoof
56-58 = sjf

Actually, it's:
55-57 = Thunderhoof Hills (accessible at 54 since the quest to go there is a level 56 quest)
57-58 = Southern Janost Forest.

Realistically, Land of Malevolence only really gets you 63-64 but Redhill mountains and Tergothen Bay will easily let you reach level 70.

If you're trying to level 2 classes, I'd recommend doing the main questlines only on one class filling the gap with several days of dailies.
You can then complete all side-quests on the other class, again filling the gap with a lot of dailies.
The secret to levelling is to take it slow and not rush.
