2 newbie questions

I just started playing RoM a few days ago. Today I made my third class, and hate it. I'm guessing the answer is no, but is there a way to cancel it?

Also, I keep resetting the audio every time I log in, but then when I log in after that, it blows out my eardrums again! lol. Is there a way to save these settings? (I click Apply and Save, and it works just fine til I log out)

Lilylight,

Welcome to Runes of Magic!

To answer your question...it depends. What class combo did you select? Also some class combos are better at higher levels. Have you given it enough of a try?

If you haven't invested heavily in your character and you aren't attached to the name, you create another character on the same account and try out another combo. If you like the name and want to keep the character but drop the class, you can purchase a Fruit of Forgetting from the Token/Item Shop and drop your third class.

I would advise you to give it a few more days to see how you feel about it. I think there is fun to be had with any class combo.

Keep posting on the forum. The community here is very helpful and I think you will get some good advice. [At least most of the time anyway ;) ] That advice is particularly helpful when you are just starting out.

Good Luck!

- Kali

PS. Make sure the account you are logging into on your computer has full rights for the Runes of Magic game application folder so the settings can be saved.

Yes, you can cancel 3rd class. Fruit of Forgetting will erase it (be careful you dont zap a good class instead, make sure you know what you are doing).

But why bother? You can't play all 3. If you are happy with 2 you had, why you picked 3rd in first place? Also, some classes are not good to play, but make good off class to your main. For example, P/K is very good healer even if you don't like to play K. In that case, suck it up and live with it.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

Yes, fruit of forgetting will clear the class. I recommend just not selecting that particular class as primary for now. Try the 1st/2nd, 2nd/1st, 1st/one you dislike, or 2nd/one you dislike combos. There may also be class expansion tickets available later that will let you pick a fourth(fifth, sixth) class, so you will really never have to deal with that class you dont like atm.

As for the audio, use the configuration button on the game launcher to adjust settings. Here is a video of how; check out the 3:30 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuc6-ptO2aY
The settings inside the game only stay as long as the client is open. Once the client is closed or reopened in second window, those in game settings are gone and the ones from the launcher configuration are used.

edit: for the fruit of forgetting-if you have done a lot of work and want to drop a class, use an advanced skill reset stone on the other class to recover any talent points invested in elite skills. For example-I play mainly wd/s. So if I want to use fof to clear scout class, I would use asrs on warden to recover the talent points invested in wd/s elites.

Please do not "class balanace" the tactics I use.

If the class is new, a regular skill reset stone would work and is part of a bag drop.

Thanks for all the responses. This prompts a few more questions.

I see I need to buy diamond coins. I keep hearing about bonus diamonds. Is there a specific time you get the bonus, or do you watch for an in-game notice and buy off the website? How much time do you have to buy after seeing the message?

As to why I care about a third class, I'd have to say for the same reason I like the 2 class combos. I chose a druid and rogue. I love what they each bring to the other class. The third one I chose was a scout, and I don't care for the play style at all. I've also looked through the elite skills the scout brings to the other 2 (I know I should have looked closer before choosing), and they don't appeal to me. However if I had chosen mage, I see I would have received a group heal, for example. Sounds much more useful. And I also don't like the idea of using a bow on the druid or rogue.

It seems I read somewhere that if you use the Fruit of forgetting to delete a class, you can't redo any quests you completed on that class. I can't find that reference now. Can anyone tell me if this is indeed the case?

Again, thanks for the responses. Everyone has been helpful.

Correct, any yellow quest done are gone. Any credit for blue quest done before the fof is also forfeit.

Scout is not a good main class, no. However, druid/scout is very worthwhile as I hear from druids. In fact, my guild main healer, usually a druid/warden, just picked up scout as 3rd, on recommendation of people who know that combo well.

Rogue/scout, while it is no longer king of the hill, replaced by FOTM rogue/mage, is still very very viable combo. Combat Master is a very OP elite, subst is very useful for some runs, energy thief is great skill.

Not that mage is a bad choice, mind you; but scout is far from a bad one. And you dont use bow to shoot, on either combo. Bow is stat stick.

Yes, FOF will zero out your XP on third class and not give the quests back. Your only way to get XP on new class is to do what quests you have left, dailies, or powerlevel.
