The moderators will tell you all the positives so I'll let them do their job. I will tell you a great deal of negatives though. This game is broken in many ways. It crashes at least once an hour for most people. The lag at times can be horrendous. Class combos are unbalanced. There is no strategy to endgame runs other then wait for long cooldowns. If you pick a undesirable class combo which there are plenty of, you won't get many endgame runs. If you gear wrong you'll have to do it again which is costly. If you pick the wrong server you'll be messed up later on for endgame runs. (Reni I'm sorry ;( ) The list goes on.

On the other hand though, if this isn't a serious game to you and you want to play it for the SOLE purpose of entertainment with no care about endgame whatsoever. Go ahead and try it. Be fore-warned this is the most unbalanced and broken MMORPG I am aware of yet I'm still here and it's still fun. It's all about your perspective, and what you want out of the game.

I think that's a fair evaluation of the game.

The game is a great game if you enjoy the play of the game. If you like playing to play... not play to get to endgame ASAP, you will be fine. If you are one that wants to jump into instances soon and rise to the top, either expect a lot of time or money. Also then your class combo comes in. Questing, leveling, and just playing for fun, almost every class is viable. However, when you add in endgame, instance runs.. there are a few classes with the top DPS and those are the ones wanted on runs. That is where you really see the unbalance in the game. When certain combos do 20%+ more dps, they are the ones going on runs and succeeding in instances.

Again though the game for enjoyment, not endgame be at the top playing, is great. Lots of customization, lots of looks, and fun. You can always find something to do in game. Some here have gotten to the "run instance, do siege, and log off" point. That is just cause they have done most of the content, or have no interest in the other content.

Give it a try and see

People complain that the servers are empty (which they most certainly are not), then tell potential new players all the "negatives" about the game. If you know what you're doing, you won't crash at all during the day, computer or internet does not matter (because I have horrible both). The game is most certainly alive, gear is cheaper than ever, however diamonds are high. Depending on what server you would pick (Artemis, Reni, Govinda, Grimdal, Indigo, Osha, Palenque) you could get a good thriving population (Artemis/Reni/Govinda) or a smaller population for the other servers, (no offense to players on the other servers). Ftwoplayer is correct in the fact that new instances are more burns than strat heavy, and that is a negative. There are classes that are "better" than others, i.e. Warden/Warriors and Rogue/Mages, HOWEVER, there are PLENTY of support classes, that are extremely helpful in runs, as well as others that are still good damage if geared properly.

Now to gearing. Getting stats and gearing can be difficult, but if you do it right the first time, you should have no problem, and with the new crafting gear/easy mode gear, and bag stats that are not that bad, you can gear an extremely decent toon for very cheap, besides plussing of course, but personally I seem to have great luck with that :S . We would all love to have you join our servers and are always looking for new players, just ignore all the pessimistic players that give you all the negative fact (no offense ftwoplay). All games have them. And yes, this game is similar to WoW, but has its own distinctive traits, which makes it more difficult and challenging (which myself and many others enjoy because it keeps the game interesting) to play. I hope to see you online sometimes. (I personally think you should join the server 'Artemis' :P )

Is it your main password that's not being accepted, or the Secondary password?

I'm guessing it was secondary password since he said he's been locked out. A way to fix this if you can't get your secondary password right is by logging into the main homepage for the US Runes of Magic servers and going to account info. There is an option there that lets your reset your secondary password.

Hope to see ya playing. If you're not on Reni then hopefully during a siege war when you join a guild.

game is a lot of fun and addicting friend. Funny how a lot of negative nancy's still end up trolling forums, and or actually still playing the game while berating it.

Alas i know youll say... well i just want the game to get better etc etc.

Well it is.. Rome wasnt built in a night as they say.

We have a lot of exciting stuff happening soon, and for first time in years, multiple options of gearing soon as well.

Most bugs ive encountered in game over the years have been resolved... the ones that havent... really dont matter all that much to 95% of population, or affect your gameplay.

Any lag, ping strikes, w/e can be resolved in this game, i started out playing this game with less than 10 fps...and it went down to 2 or less during boss fights lol, pretty much wasnt doing anything. Eventually changed my comp to a better version, which helped tremendously.

And to anyone that says i shouldnt have to change my comp to play a game... well eventually your going to have to change your comp anyways!! i mean a computer is really only viable for 5+ yrs, before its so oudated. And besides computers when i was a kid were well over 2000$+ for a good one lol, nowadays they are like peanuts to buy.

But theres also many other small things you can do... theres forum topics about them on here how to help, ive even googled how to get better fps in rom or w/e, and found stuff on google pertaining to it.. even check youtube out, and search around there, great players like Bleedingblak have great youtube channels with a ton of info to help others with many subjects, for example.

Anyways im rambling here, and tired of seeing people be pushed away before they even try game by negative nancy's XD.

Try the game for yourself!

honestly can't stress this enough. even with the smaller population, there is literally a guild for EVERYTHING. find one that suits you(may take a bit of "trying out" guilds, but thats fine, most reasonable people will not have any hard feelings if you tell them up front you are looking for "the one", and theirs might or might not be it. i still run with ex-guildmembers, some even from the guilds i got kicked out of).

that being said, play this game how YOU want to play it. if people give you a hard time, find new people to hang with. most of the time, there are people who share your playstyle...again, this is were searching for "the guild" is helpful...

last but not least: don't be afraid to ask questions! we are all sitting here on the forums and ingame twiddling our thumbs...and a good number of us have been around 3+ years. that being said, most people don't respond well to requests for powerleveling and free gold/gear for no effort on your part, so i wouldn't even try. small tip when you are asking questions though: use the forum search function first. a good amount of times, it's been something thats been asked and answered. people are a whole lot more willing to help you if you appear to be trying to help yourself(same with the gold/gear thing, if u put in the effort, people are more willing to help you along). even linking an old thread with a "is this still relevant?" attached shows you at least tried to do your homework, and thus, you will probably get a much better response than asking a question that already has 5 threads about it, yet you appear to have read none of them.

Very true... this is one of main reasons I went to Reni - only place you can use Rustypedia.

How often someone would wonder something, and all it took just to wake rustyx and ask him - man is waking RoM encyclopedia and has huuugee memory. :D

For start - get couple add-ons that will make your interface workable - ZZInfoBar3, quest helper, AdvancedAuctionHouse, UltimateMailMod and pbinfo for starter. Those will make your play much easier.

And just remember - NEVER pay XP debt with quests. If you do - you will nerf your character and have difficulties leveling. Choose your classes wisely, IMHO - best start few alts - different class combos that interest you (to L10 on both sides) to see witch one you like and stick to the one you select.

Good luck and have fun in world of Taborea.
