Curious New Player

So I started playing on the Artemis server a few days ago after searching for a new game to try. The game itself seems fun...but I am wondering if there is a strong community base here?

I almost never see any talking in world chat - I do notice it costs money to speak in world chat so maybe that explains it... But I also found and opened the party matching system - and ran a search for all instances at all levels in all areas....and it was totally empty. Do people not use instance queue to find parties and run content here? So far the game is fun but for an online game it feels like I am the only one playing most of the time I have been on....so just wondering

:)

Hi there,

Artemis is actually one of the more populated servers but like all the other servers, there's not much of a lower level community. Like you said, the game is fun and I personally liked the story line behind the quests. However, most people these days usually hurry and level up because they want to run the end game instances.

As far as world chatting goes, there's not too much of that any more. It could be partially because of the cost but also because a lot of people don't tend to pug these days; something I wish there was a lot more of. You can however join the trade channels by simply typing /join Trade or /join trade. This is free to use and sometimes there's some activity in there. You were correct about the instance queue, no one uses that. Most people just world shout if they want to do a pug, or can zone shout for free.

It may seem lonely now, but like I said earlier, there are a lot more people that are in the higher levels; many of which that like to run the lvl 55 instances or higher. I've been playing for a little over 4 years now, and while I don't have time to play as much as I used to, I still enjoy it when I can.

Hope you decide to stay! and Good Luck!

I appreciate the response. I am going to stick with it a while - hopefully it will get better. Just sux that I like running instances and the queue has never had a single person in it - but I will make do with quests and hope I can find a guild or something later on I suppose.

As for the party que thing i don't think anyone uses that most just party normally i think the gold spammers used to use that to annoy people or something.

The queue is not cross-server which is one of the reasons it doesn't get used and most likely never will.

If your focus is to run instances then this game may or may not be for you depending on your expectations. While some guilds do run instances, it is rarely with the frequency of other mmorpgs. You will find that the vast majority of the server population logs on for siege then logs off shortly after. I'm not saying that is a good or bad thing, just an observation of the server communities right now. So again, if your expectations are similarly aligned then I recommend sticking with RoM to see if you like it. If you are someone who priorities running instances/raids then perhaps this is not the right game for you as it stands right now.
