Region/Language Settings - New Player Problems

I, as I'm sure many others, have seen many threads where new players have had issues starting the game or signing into the game for one reason or another. Most of the time, however, it is due to the Region/Language settings located on the client launcher. My question is, do the GMs, CMs or whomever, take it upon themselves to report these types of issues? Or because it is not literally a bug issue and does not get documented as such by the current players, does this "problem" go unnoticed and never reported?

Personally, I don't think I would have ended up playing this game had I experienced the kind of difficulty that I've seen in some of these threads. For me, this is my first mmo and literally nothing at the time would have or could have persuaded me to endure the type of frustrations this would have caused. In other words, having not played an mmo before, there would have been nothing that I could have experienced at that point that would have made this game stand out from others.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely enjoy playing this game, I have for the past 5 years, and I hope to continue to play it and support it. I just think that for possibly many others, this could be the barrier that keeps some from joining the game. And we need all the players we can get considering the lack of marketing there is for recruiting.

Honestly, I think this whole issue began with Gameforge Live. Because you set the region in Gameforge Live, many people assume that that will set the game for the right region. However, it also falls back on the new player because if they miss the fact that their client says its region/language is ENEU, that means that they only saw the Play button and ignored everything else on the client. That being said, it probably isn't being reported as an issue because it is not a bug. I'd say, let's make a short (very short) guide on changing your region/language in RoM from Gameforge Live, and then let what happens, happen.

Zerienga - 90/90 P/K
Téster - 95/61/60/45/45 CH/WL/R/P/M
Dontkillimascout - 90/61 WL/P

If you want to contact me quickly and efficiently, try the US IRC channel.
No, I don't know everything. I just use my knowledge to form educated guesses
And I listen when others say I am wrong in order to learn.

There's unfortunately nothing that can be done per-se. GameforgeLive is only downloaded from one source, the home servers in Germany. When you download the client through GFL, that too, is also only one copy in Germany, and therefore the region is set to EU.

I've already created a guide which has been available for some time, available here: Starting Runes of Magic and selecting the correct region
