I don't think you can, but perhaps the manual downloads from my signature might be of interest to you? You can download them to wherever you like.

You probably wouldn't want to see the mess it would cause even if you could change the install/update path to be honest. There is a beefy hidden folder that rom pulls from and I'm sure everything there is linked to the installation/update path.
