bleed formula

was wondering if anyone knows the formula to calculate bleeds on a target. i know it depends on main hand dps, but looking for the exact thing here.

From what i recall, Bleed-dmg is related to the following three (3) factors:
- character-tab mainhand damage value
- tooltip-skill bleed value
- bleed ticks during the bleed-duration

The character sheet mainhand dmg is defined by
- your mainhand damage
- wrath rune
- gear dmg bonus
- gear set bonus
- dmg buffs

>> Speed buffs/pots/runes do not affect the bleeds and thus bleed-dmg is not defined via ur mainhand dps but ur damage instead.

>> The bleed-ticks is a highly affecting factor in the overall bleed formula. Blindspot for example gives 3 ticks, Shadowstab 5 ticks, SneakAttack 15 ticks. Their bleed values have an approximate ratio of 3:5:15 in practice which indicates the direct recirpocal relationship in the formula.

>> Could make some numerical tests when i m available ingame but i d bet the formula would be something like:

Bleed_Dmg = (Skill_Hidden_Coefficient) * ( Mainhand_Dmg + Skill_Tooltip ) / ( #_of_ticks )

where mainhand_dmg is the dmg value in ur character sheet and skill_hidden_coeff is a (possible) modifier to make some skills having higher bleed effects.

what about the target pdef? is it same as for normal skills but ignores damage reduction?

Yes your damage caused by your bleed will be changed according to the targets pdef, however the targets damage reduction will not affect your bleeds damage. (Take that knights!)

This is why bleeds worked so well against siege gates (before they fixed it). Damage Reduction would lower the damage from skills, but bleeds were uneffected... making classes with multiple bleeds the best at taking down gates.

The Bleed from vampire arrows, and the damage from thorny vine, are most DEFINITELY affected by attack speed....So bleeds are based on main hand DPS, not just "damage".

Most bleeds I encounter seem to cap out as well. My shadowstab bleed never hits above 22k, grievous wound 25k, and most Warriors I see slash bleed never above 16k. Blind spot used to be uncapped but that is now 25k as well, compared to being able to pull 100k+ on vamp ticks
