I'll keep it simple, others can expand if you'd like (As bad as these answers will seem, I love this game.)

1. I heard Artemis merged with another server, does this mean Artemis is currently the most populated server? If so, should I just make my new characters there?

Artemis is the most populated server, however it was before the tiny merge as well.

2. How long does it take to find a group for group content as a DPS and how long does it take to find a group as a tank?

Most runs are done through guild, and there seems to be less pugs now a days, however tank's are most needed for endgame instances on Artemis atm, can't speak for other servers.

3. Which class combo with Knight is best for tank and which combo with Rogue is best for DPS?

Knight/Warrior and Rogue/Mage

4. How P2W is the game? When I played, you were basically hit by a pay wall at level 70, is that still existent?

Very much still in existence

5. What is the best way to level up to the cap and how long does it take?

Main quest line, if you're experienced and in a helpful guild for leveling gear, a couple weeks, month max.

6. What do I do once I reach the cap? Also, what is the level cap?

Siege War (PvP) can be done at any level, but mostly all max level people in it. Run instances. Daily games... whatever you want.

7. How important is crafting and housing?

Housing is important as it provides extra room and the house maids give great buffs/foods. Crafting I have never done and have played for over 3 years.

8. How much do I have to rely on luck to get gear?

RNG is certainly involved, highly when plussing gear, and somewhat when pulling for the high dura gear, however there are always OD pieces of mid-game gear around.

9. How inflated is the market (ie. are things listed on the market for what they are actually worth)?

Market (Auction House) is usually a little more expensive than 'word of mouth selling'. However the costs usually aren't far off.

10. Is this game worth getting in to if I prefer being F2P or just spending minimal money on essentials like a permanent mount?

If you can fit in well with a small community, knowing everyone around you being a cheerful person and welcoming to all, than yes. You would also require extra time being F2P, the less money you spend, the more time you need to spend farming if endgame is your goal.

I'm pretty sure Artemis is the most populated. You told me that you wanted to play with a friend that's never played before, so, yes. I would recommend you start a new character to play and level with your friend.

Tanks that can hold aggro are always desirable. Can't tell you for sure for dps, someone else probably could, though.

I'd say k/w and k/p are the best tanks. Previously, k/w was the only tank wanted for endgame due to Authoritative Deterrence, but that got majorly nerfed, so k/w is no longer the only viable tank for endgame. R/m is the best rogue primary combo.

The game is very P2W, however, it's possible to be F2P if you're willing to put in the work. The pay wall doesn't happen until you reach level cap, though.

The best way to reach level cap would be by questing. It usually takes me about a month or two to reach level cap on any new chars I start, though it can take longer or shorter than that depending on your determination and how fast you want to speed through the quests.

Once reaching level cap, you do mini games to farm for phirius shells, daily quests, crafting if you so choose, lower level instance farming (such as do or rt for ancient mementos), find groups for higher level instance farming of easy mode, chat with other players, do public quests in the latest zone to farm EoJ for more stats, do drill grounds, and do siege war. This is assuming you aren't able to get into hm runs yet. Level cap is currently level 92.

7. How important is crafting and housing?

Housing is very important. The housemaids provide nice buffs and potions when they are maxed and xp/tp furniture is always a plus. Crafting is important for the buff food and potions used in runs and in siege war, and purple crafted gear is viable to use for endgame when you mix and match the pieces. Crafting is not necessary, though. Alchemy probably has the highest return for sold items and don't take too long to make. Hero Potions, Strong Stimulant, Ancient Spirit Water, and Touch of the Unicorns all sell very well (and with pet crafting, you only spend about 700k gold for all the required materials for about 5 stacks. I'm pretty sure that, making white shields, you can make more gold by vendor in the shields made than you spend on the materials to make the gear, but not sure on that.

Depends on what you want to get. Crafted gear is fairly easy to find OD compared to HM gear last I checked. You do have to rely on luck when plussing the gear though.

Diamonds are around 90k per on Reni, not too sure the price on other servers. Stats can sell for anywhere around 15m to 80+ mil on Reni.

It honestly depends. If you want to play and have fun, then yes. If you want to be bleeding edge endgame, I'd say it takes too much work to do it quickly. I'd suggest doing crafting to get gold faster and to do dailies on alts and your main every day while questing on your main. This would help build up your phirius token supply to make it easier to get some essential things from the ptoken shop. Also, a nice, helpful guild would make it easier, too.
