Returned to game after years absent..

And I have found all my characters are gone.. Clicked the server "Mithras" that indicated I had 4 characters. Saw none. Created a new one, played for a bit, got bored and rechecked characters, now it says only one. Created another character with the name I used years ago on my main, and it was able to use the name.

So, was there some sort of wipe at some point? Am I the only one? Not much for starting all over.. so probably will move on to another game. x.x

There were server merges. Read this - Future server merge plans - for more info. Maybe your characters were deactivated, although I thought they would deactivate whole accounts, not just characters.

You will need to contact support - you can find the link in my signature or at the top of the board.

Describe your situation, characters and your absence, support can then verify the information and merge your characters over manually.

Make sure you register your support account with the same email address tied to your Runes of Magic account so that the process can move quickly.

Edit: Please make sure you act fast. The deadline for merging old characters over is next month.

One of the purposes of a server merge with the guidelines of "only the active accounts within the last year is to be merged" is to clean up old, inactive data. Cleaning up databases makes them able to run more efficiently.

In this case, I'm not sure what exactly will happen with the data but there is that hard deadline. I suspect it will be archived and the retrieval after such will be extremely complicated. I'm not in charge of this however, this is only speculation on my part.

This is the same with me. Although... I forgot my character name. I go to Mithras cause it said I had 1 character I go it. it's blank as if my character is just gone? Am I still able to get it transferred although I forgot it's name??

Character name helps, but if you remember your AU account name and/or the email address linked to it, it's all good. As Kiri said, hop to it if you want to reactivate the account.

I am another recent return after absence. I have read tyhe above posts. What interests me at this stage is transfer of chars to different servers so that I can bring them all on to one server.

Has the question of transfers between servers been dealt with yet?
