Class Balance, A Community Effort

I think it is fairly obvious to everyone that Runewaker could be doing a better job at balancing the classes. I am currently compiling a comprehensive list of skill changes which I believe would help to balance this game. I have just started a new thread in every class section to gather other member's ideas and feedback (sorry for spamming like that, but I deemed it necessary).

The point is, I could do everything by myself. But it would probably take over a year, and I would always miss something or other. That is why I need other people to step up and help me. Combined, the members of these forums have experience with every class combo and skill. It will also be much harder for Frogster to dismiss these suggestions if there is a sense of genuine community involvement.

Here is the the main thread: http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=64563

I need two things from you guys:
1. Constructive feedback on the changes I have proposed so far.
2. Your ideas on the class combos I am less familiar with. This is your chance to tell Frogster exactly how you want your class to be balanced. The more people that visit and respond to these threads, the more likely that Frogster will actually give it a look.

Thank you for your time.

Holy you are a great spammer.

Or....you could simply look at the class feedback threads instead of spamming the exact same threads in every forum. >_>

New waves of class balancing patches are rolling over us in near future. First could come end of the month. First analyse them. Then it is time for new feedback.

@TigerNinja
Uh.. thanks, I guess.

@effervescent
I am looking at class feedback forums. However, I wished to get as many people involved as possible in the discussion. (If you are wondering, no, it hasn't exactly worked very well so far)

@Garawen
Actually, the class re-balances are already around half over. The problem is, at least from what I can gather, they haven't fixed nearly all of the issues, have created some new ones, and RoM players generally aren't thrilled about them in general. Besides, looking at RW's track record, I think it is safe to say they need a little help in this area.

@subzeroex
I hope you were being sarcastic. Cause if you weren't, then I point you to the P/W. That should end all discussion.

Many of the game's veterans and experienced players commented in those threads. Why should they post the same comments in your thread just because you feel like re-doing what Frogster already did, and/or are too lazy to read through the multitude of suggestions already made?

They haven't listened to almost all of the balancing suggestions in those posts. If you think they're going to magically wake up and use suggestions found in your threads, you're fooling yourself. If you want opinions, look at the feedback threads we have already posted in. But you still need more experience in the game before you make suggestions for drastic changes. A lot of your comments show how little you actually know about RoM.

That is what I tried to tell him in the warrior forum post. Listening to experienced players is not a strong point for this guy.

People, please for the love of all that is holy, please stop feeding this troll! :mad:

@effervescent
The reason I made new threads is that it is hard for me to determine what has exactly has changed for every single skill over the course of the last year or so for classes that I never play as. It is much easier to simply ask players what needs to be fixed currently, rather than wade through an ungodly amount of posts throughout the game's entire lifespan (which I am still doing by the way).

I'm not fooling myself at all. There is a very low chance that Frogster will pass on any of my advice to RW, and even less of a chance that RW takes that advice. I'm doing this both out of a sort of obsessive impulse, and because if/when no changes are forthcoming I won't feel as guilty if I quit this game to move on to some of the better ones coming out in 2012. Of course, on the offhand chance that something major does change, I will probably stay, since I enjoy socializing with my guildmates.

Lastly, how exactly do my comments show I know little about RoM? Is it because I am actually asking for others' help, and admit I don't know every class combo in the game inside and out? Only an idiot thinks he/she knows everything.

@ghostwolf82
Listening to experienced players is exactly what I am trying to do. Labeling me as a troll is just immature. I have spent quite a lot of my free time trying to help out, and whether you disagree with my thoughts or not, my intent is quite obviously sincere. No troll is going to spend hours going through skills point by point when they could just make some controversial claim (like "Runes of Magic is discriminatory against dwarves and midgets since there is no little people playable race!").

Because you make suggestions for classes you barely know, and even ones you've never even played? You are inexperienced with this game, and thus you are not able to accurately portray what's wrong with certain classes--to put it bluntly, you are clueless about most skills that you say need fixing. "Asking for others' help" means you don't have any idea what you're doing--if you need us to tell you what's wrong with certain combos or classes, you're doing it wrong, and you shouldn't even be making a feedback thread like this in the first place.

And as for what Ghostwolf said, making a thread and rattling off skills that need to be changed without hardly ever having spent time playing that combo or class, or not experiencing it in the higher tier instances, is rather trollish.

@effervescent
Except that I have played all of the classes that I have revised extensively, with the exception of the p/w which I said many times was experimental. Asking for help doesn't mean I don't know my own classes, it means that I want more input, and recognize that I haven't played the other classes enough yet. I doubt there are 5 players who know every single class combo inside and out, and keep up to date with all of their changes. If so many of my ideas are stupid, you shouldn't have any problems listing them and explaining why they are wrong, instead of simply calling me a noob. Go ahead, show me how terrible I am. I dare you.

You admitted that you weren't geared, yet you made comments about certain skills that, when geared, are perfectly fine. You also admitted you had not played some of those combos much--so no, you didn't play them "extensively." You made comments about skills which would be OP if buffed or useless if nerfed, as people pointed out in your "feedback" thread. I'm not going to list all the wrong assumptions you made, as your thread is full of them. Other people have ripped some of them to shreds already.

You need a serious ego deflation. You're not going to wake RW up and make them fix anything, and beyond that, they only take suggestions in a certain format, as per the Class Feedback threads. They're not going to take your mess of a thread and say you're brilliant--and one person making many wrong assumptions on classes they haven't played much, or haven't played to endgame, means very little when compared to the hundreds of people that gave experienced, informed feedback in the Class Discussion threads.
