Character name

I think that during character creation, we should be able to put numbers into our names. Having to choose a name of only letters is quite hard. I personally have a lot of character names that I enjoy using. However, they are all taken. Adding numbers to my name would solve the issue and make it much easier to pick a name. I'm so annoyed by this that I might not even play the game, just because I can't have a good name.

Honestly, ingame names with numbers and dollar signs and percents really irriate me. Personally, I think it looks uncreative and immature (just in general - I'm not saying you are either of these). The rest of us had to come up with unique character names - that's the fun of it.

Or...you can throw a couple "x"s on the front and back, and there you go! :D

Not sure if it works with numbers, but I have seen names of characters such as DärkAngel since the Darkangel was already taken.

You can do it by using http://www.asciitable.com/ (ALT key and NumPAD) ---> ä is ALT+132 on the num pad.

Note, if you use characters that most are unable to type in you may have issues for invites and communication.
Keep it Cheesy.

I didn't actually mean this as a suggestion, but hey! W/e works. I'd actually go with Mdougles' idea instead. >.>

Numbers would be good. I tend to make a bunch of alts, and I just end up naming them like "FSevenTwo" to keep track of where they are and who they are. Numbers would help a lot.

People who get cute and use the non-ascii characters (and extended ASCII is NOT ASCII) drive me crazy. Any kind of transaction with them is always a pain. Ultimate Mail Mod helps a lot, but still.... ugh. I would much rather game prohibited those characters from names instead of numbers. You make things difficult on yourself when you name your toon that way, no matter how l33t it seems.

OTOH, excessive Xing is not good either. Nothing quite says "I am a permanent newb" like having a name like XXXSupaKillaXXX. Stick one X to avoid replicating someone elses name, sure. Otherwise, take a pity on people who will want to communicate with you and pick something practical.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

If all my standard and reasonably extended names are already taken in a game, I find a new game.

It was allowed during beta, and a few are still around. I recently saw Drwho2 on Govinda.
