Public Events

I personally think the concept of public event quests is great... giving another method for players to gather stats/gear. BUT, 6k points total is just way too little for everyone to fight over for. It makes no sense to have the event last for 18 mins if the 6k points can be reached in 10-15seconds.

I'd like to suggest that either the points be increased or be hosted separately in each of the 3 channels.

Just a little... thought.

3 seperate channels doesn't fix the problem.

It would just turn into a Dalanis Event.

It should be upgraded to 60,000 score and every 60 minutes.

I completely agree.

Both of your suggestions would be awesome. Another idea I had was that the x/6000 thing be turned into a 1minute or less timer or something.

just a thought.

At the moment, the quests are done before timer starts, then turned in in burst as event rolls over. And, yes, much like siege sign up, it fills in just a few seconds, leaving the remainder of the event to do quests for next round.

Tweaking the numbers could work, but I am thinking if I would be happier with a more traditional event structure. In other events, you can't preload. The work on accomplishing the events starts when the event starts. Here, 99% of the work - the killing, the gathering, the deliveries and escorts all happen beforehand, making the event be a mad scramble to complete that last 1% by turning it in.

While we are at it... I am not thrilled with John Selino not letting you buy stuff if you are not top finisher. I presume this was done to combat botting, but it makes it rather hard to redeem justice points.

Actually, top 3 can buy. First place can get hero stats for 210 Energy, and 2nd and 3rd place can get Glorious stats for 150 Energy (the 150 option is also available to 1st place). I love the events, got myself 3 Glorious stats today, in addition to the one I got for my Phirius Shells. Now I will be saving my Energy up to try and get some good Hero stats :D
80/70 R/S Þwnkill - 80/50 R/S Velvetboxxx - 80/77 R/S Mclaxbrah

And many more...

Yeah... sorry, when I said "top" I didn't actually mean "top one". Top 3 can get them. I still think it penalizes the "slow and steady" types too much. Some geared people can run the memento-heavy top instances and gather hundred per run, others grind their way through slow HOS and DOD runs. Come redemption time, your mentos count the same. I think similar should be done here.

ROM has always tried to hit the principle that more casual players have access to a lot of same content that big spenders have, but at greatly slowed pace. Here, they don't. You can grind your way to have all the energy points you need, but without that speed-potion enhanced rune disk, your have no hope of being able to use them, unless you can log in at odd hours when the other people are not playing.

Indeed, making it easier to access the vendor options would be great. I love the public event, but this has put me off completely.

One thing i will say is that I am glad it doesnt break a few hours after a server restart like the old public events did.

I have to agree with you there and gladly forward this feedback from all of you with my next report :)

Something else that could help is to make each of the public event quests only doable once per day like daily quests, so there is a finite amount you can actually do. Makes sure it gets spread around instead of a devout few that sit and do the same 5 or 6 over and over

I don't see the issue with this - if you have the patience to grind the events over and over, why should you not be allowed to?

I agree, there should not be a cap placed on the amount of times players are able to complete the event--its like saying to put a cap on the number a player can farm mementos in a day.

Nonetheless, I'm just looking forward to changes that would increase the total number of public points in a set time and allow everyone to view the prizes even though they are not top 3.

Currently I haven't seen a ton of crowding on Govinda, and I've rather enjoyed running the events. I'd prefer mento runs because the entire party progresses at the same rate, but if I don't have a group the public events make a nice alternative.

Of course, that might all change once things get crowded and I can only turn in 2 - 3 quests per timer... I think they may have to adjust the score upward in the future, and change the reward structure so it's one part rewards for top score and one part reward for how MUCH score you obtain (regardless of rank).

Loosening the restriction from top 1 to top 3 people get to buy hero stats would be nice as well, especially if the events get more crowded.

I actually kind of like the way it's structured. You have to actively participate in it, can't just sit AFK like the Dalanis events. I really haven't looked at it, but think it would be extremely hard, if not impossible to run more than one toon in each event.

I feel increasing the window would only allow the current players who are on top because of speed pots etc, to get more rewards sooner. It won't change the lineup, and would actually open up a wider gulf between top and bottom scores. If you can afford to move twice as fast as most, and have twice as much time, you can get 4 times as much done.

Hey idk if anyone looks at this anymore but I think its time the amount of points for the event gets lowered. Recently server pop on all servers has gone down and that makes doing these events difficult to do not to mention boring. Who wants to farm the event by themselves? I think the number of points required for the event should be lowered or it should be based on how many players are active in the zone. The event idea is great w/o a doubt but doing them now that server pop is down is kinda mind deadening thats just my opinion though :) Feel free to agree or disagree w/ me :)

Actually, a lot of the population issue currently is because of the new zones, people are leveling to 72 or leveling up a dwarf. Since the events in the new zone broke, I've seen a few more people in TB, still low population but easily doable.

TB on Reni has all but died during what used to be top times for the public event. Right now the number of players doing the event has fallen way too low to even do them solo anymore. But some of you do not know about collecting 9999 justice badges I believe. if you collect that many you can purchase the items fro the TB event at any time you please and not just if you make the top 3.
