What?

This game isn't supported on Mac OSX or on Linux. Anything done with Wine is purely experimental.

If you have a mac and you want to play RoM, it is actually quite simple. Download bootcamp, get yourself a copy of windows 7, dual boot, play RoM. Or, you could, you know, buy a computer that was made for gaming XD

Did anyone even notice this, is the OP suggesting they used to play RoM with only 512 MB of RAM?

Also you're complaining about spending all your money in one place... yet you have an iMac...

I hate to start this argument, but Macs in general are trash; if you want to run games use Windows, you're not going to get support for Macs in general and if you like UNIX then use something like Ubuntu atleast.

WINE is nice and all but the support is limited, emulation is hard to perfect and though WINE is good at allowing emulation of some things, gaming will never be one of them.

Well, this is what happens when one goes with a mac - lots of games just aren't made for mac's.

This is one reason why I will never be able to completely give up windows for linux - Games are designed for windows. Yes, there are work arounds - some of which work exceptionally well. But for most its not the same as playing it on the OS it was designed for.

Agree, everything is made for windows, Mac users use a dual boot to windows, or experiment with other things.

I use linux for a lot of things, and owned a mac years ago, but since games require windows, that's what I run for gaming.

Buy windows and install boot camp, or pick up a low cost windows PC. I think you can build one to match your Mac for about 1/3rd what you paid for it.

Sorry, but "thems the breaks" as they say.

You basically have three options. Either use bootcamp (this is Frogster's officially sanctioned method for playing RoM on a Mac), use an emulator such as VMware, or use Wine.

The bootcamp and VMware methods will require a copy of Windows (XP, Vista, or Windows 7) and therefore will cost you some.

Doing it with Wine can be completely free, but to get it to work you will need to jump through a few hoops (even a few more than for Linux users). However, I can attest that Wine will run RoM quite nicely with Wine version 1.3.20. See my Running RoM on Linux guide (link in my sig) though you will of course need to modify the procedure for getting Wine installed on a Mac. See this Wine information page for details on doing this.

Yes it is a pain, yes Frogster will not provide support for running the game via Wine, but at least it will run.
