The ppl with ridiculous amounts of gold, as in over the gold cap of 1 billion-1, would no longer stimulate dia sales for froggy.
The cycle is that lv 55+ gear is on ah/wc/sale for x millions amount of gold.
So the those that are past the introductory lvl 50 start wanting the lvl 55+ gear, but dont have the millions of gold to buy it.
So the way to get gold is....
farm forever
gold spammers(I advise against this, my they get bonked in the head by a toliet seat that fell off the ISS)
buy dias
botting(I detest them too, but try and gather golden eggs and see if you are so quick to burn them at the stake)
3. ???
4. profit
So the main(legit) way is to buy dias, gift items from cs for gold, and then buy the lvl 55+ gear with that gold.
Those with lots of gold are the end gamers that trade for cs items. These endgamers can claim whatever they want, but they trade more gold for dias than they have ever bought. thus affecting the dia sales.
If a cheaper, or safer, alternate to the current method of trading gold for the items bought with dias(ie abl) comes out, that would affect froggy.
So the fact is that froggy did nothing to stem the inflation jump when chapter 4 came out. This lead to the gold handlers being in control. So now froggy is bent over and must continue to cater to them, or the eventual dissolution of the rl company suffers. But froggy will not be able to continue the upkeep required to cater to them, and resulting in the dissolution of the company.
So, I suggest enjoy the game for now
Ok, I think most of this is correct, but I am confused by the logic on one point: where the endgamers with lots of gold took control of the system.
If they have lots of gold left (and I personally don't know many who do, and the ones that do have lots of gold, paradoxically, sell dias) and they aren't buying dias with cash, instead they're buying dias with gold... how do they have the power?
Because of the addition of the Phirius Shell gear, memento gear, memento and crafted level 70 weapons, theoretically, a player who wanted to progress on their own could buy dias and just improve their own non-instance gears themselves, completely circumventing the high-gold-earning player cartel, and just start farming GCH or even ToSH themselves.
I know a few people who have done this. Except, the ones I know mostly didn't buy many dias, they mostly farmed the gold themselves and bought dias from players to get the upgrades they need.
To be completely honest, all of the top spending dia buyers I know personally are in that endgame cartel. They all supplement the dias they personally buy with dias bought from players whenever they can afford to, but on Palenque at least, the endgame population are the big dia buyers. Not exclusively, of course. We have always had a few people who just skip to endgame through sheer purchasing power, but most endgamers do buy dias for themselves.
I am not sure who has the most power to be honest. I have a feeling it varies from server to server, especially since I keep hearing about these kabals of selfish elitist endgamers who supposedly keep gear prices high. Gear prices are stupidly low on Palenque, frustratingly so to those of us who try and sell gear to be honest. By stupidly low, I mean 3mil for GCH UD gear, abl not included. GCH has not yet been cleared on Palenque, so it is cutting edge for our server.
The people who have purchasing power on Palenque are the dia sellers, not the endgamers. They set the dia prices, and as the endgamers are a voracious market, they're willing to pay any price they can come close to affording to get what they need.
The source of the problem, as far as I can see, is declining population coupled with rising costs. +16 jewels and X runes only made the cost to stay competitive higher, and the rising prices in the cash shop combined with really lackluster sales has only made the situation worse for everyone, dia buyers and dia sellers both.
I don't believe that the perceived greed of either endgamers or dia sellers is the main cause of our economic issues. If greed is a factor, it's the greed of Frogster, and I truly don't believe that even they are necessarily being greedy- I think they are using a flawed marketing model. ABL's, while I do not think they should be available for gold, are perhaps too expensive, like most things in the cash shop that we all need. If Frogster shifted their strategy to making the cash shop more accessible to all, by making things less expensive across the board, I think they would see increased population and higher profits.
However, the issue is that the way instances are currently constructed would make this dangerous. Because this is a pay-to-win gear modification game, caps would have to put in place to prevent people from overgearing ludicrously, and in that way breaking the game.
