Active Dodge

RW needs to add an active dodge to RoM. New form of energy... call it lunge: 0-100. Double tapping in any direction causes your toon to lunge and roll in that direction consuming 50 lunge. Lunge energy restores at a steady pace. Basically, when you feel an area is about to be hit w/ an aoe or to get out of melee range, you would double-tap to lunge away.

Umm why add a whole new mechanic just so you can move away from an attack? Simply just move out of the way, problem solved and doesn't give RW the chance to break something substantial recoding an entirely unnecessary mechanic.

because it makes it feel like you're doing something other than standing around spamming the same combos over and over? it also looks cool. :) almost as cool as finding brand new vistas to explore. :)

Definitely this.

If dodging/evading/lunging was enabled like GW2.

You would have to remove Dodge as a skill to Dex-users. (and Wisdom users)

I dont want to play a game where I have to dodge lunge or block manually.

You wouldn't have to actively dodge, block, etc. The game does the exact same thing if you just stand there using your skills. I'm suggesting that RW add something that works well in another game. It's especially useful for people that kite. You see that you are standing in an aoe field and you can double tap to safely get out of range ( or you hope ).

The other side of it would be that RW would mark where the intended aoe will be cast. Being able to see the target area would allow people to evade it. Bring some strategy into the game.

Because this happens in real life too... You can see where bombs and mines are in war-zones because of the glowing red circles on the ground.

The way RoM is built, that GW2 mechanic would not work here.

In GW2, you still have to aim at whatever you're fighting, and mobs/players have to aim at you as well. Thus, being able to roll to the side to dodge skills actually works. Skills work like real projectiles and can miss a target. Here, running off to the side won't stop an attack from hitting you, unless it's a casted, area-restricted AoE from a boss. In which case, you shouldn't be in the AoE range anyway if you can't survive it. Projectiles here auto-hone to you, they're not directional like in that game.

I agree that the more fast-paced type of gameplay is more fun, for me personally, but RoM won't work like that, nor should it. The entire gameplay mechanic would have to be rewritten, and there's no point in turning a game into something it's never been just to copy a popular MMO.

tbh I only brought this up because I've been double-tapping direction keys in-game and that is one of the 2 things I miss about gw2. :))
