House Mailbox

Please allow us to buy a Mailbox [furniture piece] for our houses.

I know we can buy portable mailboxes already & they aren't expensive, but each time you open it up you lose 1. That's fine and I accept that when I need something while "out in the field," but houses really should have their own mailboxes.

Here's my take, to make it fair:
1. Mailbox [furniture piece] allows you open it up 2x per day
2. You can pay dias, like bp rental, to have unlimited mailbox use for up to whatever days

dia prices could be something like:
1. 1 dia 1 day
2. 3 dia 5 days
3. 7 dia 14 days
4. 14 dia 30 days
5. 38 dia 90 days
6. 72 dia 180 days

If you download an addon called XBAR. It has a rental management feature that allows you to rent a portable mailbox by "Days" not by use.

that's pretty nice. :) I didn't that feature mentioned on xbar-iii... offhand, do you know what the rental fees are?

IIRC its 110 dias for 180 days of ah or mail, and 60 dias for the same of bank, but those could be wrong I'm not home to check. Its not a feature exclusive to xbar, many add ons have it and they can also be accessed by everyday in-game macros.

Yea, I know that the rental function thing is kind of a hidden feature in ROM, but since I wasn't sure what the codes were to open up the rental functions, I figured referring Ycavan to XBAR seemed easiest. About the pricing,

4 dia 3 days
7 dia 7 days
12 dia 15 days
16 dia 30 days
40 dia 90 days
60 dia 180 days

Oh Borella you are right, I screwed up,

3 days 10 dias
7 days 20 dias
15 days 40 dias
30 days 70 dias
90 days 180 dias (which makes very little sense)
180 days 180 dias

I never use this function, cuz i'm too damn broke. :)

Thanks so much for the in-game macros! :D

now... how about changing the request to: Make the portables and their rentals a part of the UI

If its useful, they tend to not implement it, but if it is a request for something stupid like a Mount that looks like a Dolphin, then yea, it may happen.

I'd just like to come in here and remind everyone that whilst these macro commands will work and give access to the Bank, Mailbox and Auction House, they are not officially supported by Gameforge and should you have any problems with them, you are entirely on your own.

I personally, prefer to not use them.

If you have Xbar III it is part of the UI you just go down to bottom left of screen bring up a menu, click on rental function and poof magically the rental function opens up!
you can also open up your portable bank , mailbox and AH from EXACT same menu! lol get it, worth it.

Why do you think it's not accessible via the standard RoM interface?

The only way to access it is via macro or addon = not officially supported!

I honestly don't see why it's not "officially" supported. It's been in the game for a long time...but I guess Gameforge has no problem with taking our money and then claiming no responsibility when it comes to a function that is in their game.

Personally, I've used the portable AH/Mailbox features for several years now, and have yet to have a problem. They work well, and it's damn nice to be able to check the AH for something if you're far from a town, even better to check the mail whenever you want. Convenient Mailboxes are, from what I've seen, extremely buggy, and I've had dozens of them close on me without warning, wasting them, so the "unofficial" portable mailbox -- which has unlimited uses -- is much better for your money.

If it's in YOUR game, and able to be accessed by INGAME means, then, sorry, it IS your responsibility to deal with any problems that may arise from it.

Keep in mind that addons and macros, while allowed, are specifically not supported by Gameforge. If you happen to use an addon or a macro and disaster strikes--you vendor a modded item, let's say, and then log out before you realize you've done so--Gameforge is in no way responsible for your having used the addon or macro. Gameforge is also in no way required to replace that item.

So, if you use one of those "unofficial function" macros and somehow lose an item or three, then it's very unlikely that Gameforge will do much, or anything at all, to return the item to you.

You use them at your own risk.

Calling the mentioned command lines "macros" is generally a misnomer unless they are actually embedded into their own macro.

These are single-lined lua commands derived from the game's API. The whole UI is written in lua, writing it out just means the user is calling upon the games API to execute a function.

Saying GF/RW is not held responsible would suggest they are not held responsible for *anything* concerning the UI or any un-modded game commands.

If a player talks to an NPC, and somehow that NPC wipes the player of any diamonds they had, who would be at fault? The player? I didnt think so.

The commands are no different than opening up a regular auction house, aside from the fact that its portable. I believe, actually, they might even be the same calling command (if someone can correct me on this).

If this feature were not intended for use, then Id expect it to be disabled. The contrary is happening, the game has its own rental function window, you spend dias (real life $$$$), and you get a service for the time you paid for.

This isnt some player-created function, its an actual game command and function. This isnt some addon created and modded by an addon developer. This was coded and put into the game by Runewaker themselves.

tl;dr: not a macro, its a lua command deriven from the game's actual API.

The function to open this window without calling the API command, however, was disabled - I interpret this as the developers not intending for it to be used, and that they figured it WAS disabled, because the average user had no way to access it. They must have had some reason to disable it or hide it so well.

Calling an unintended, otherwise unused API function that just happens to work may not be the best thing for your game's stability and may not be error-free, and I can see why support would tag it as an "At your own risk".

Don't get me wrong - I use these functions myself. I do know, however, that if I do something wrong with them or it eats my diamonds, Support will likely tell me that I get no reimbursement. I'm okay with that, and the convenience is worth the risk. This is a choice you've got to make for yourself.

Disabling the command via hiding it from the actual UI only points towards the incompetence of RW and its coders. It isn't very difficult to make the command return as "false" or "nil", and instead give a message saying "This feature is currently disabled." OR , deleting the function from the API library so it cant be called altogether.

Not what was done though. RW/GF still accepts our money while hiding behind the shroud that "its a macro, we cant help you" even though it is THEIR command that THEY failed to *officially* disable. Officially meaning *actually* disable the command.

Think these 2 companies need to be held to a higher accountability standard, dont you think?
