Runes of Magic US / AU

No offense to anyone but having just found out about this yesterday, my inclination is not to moan about it (which might just give them REASON to go in and fully disable it) but if they do so in the future, cross that bridge when we come to it.

In the meantime, thank you. I love the mailbox. I had just been using Guild Castle Recall Runes (since we have a mailbox in our guild castle), but this saves me 2 portals (which half the time makes me Critical Error).

Boy, did I open a can of worms...

the question is who's getting the diamonds spent on it? cuz the person or/and company getting income from it, should be responsible for it.

I remember reading some folks lost DIAS because mail/ah function was removed, but I can't remember where and when that happened. I just remember never using it because of that.

This is clear example of GF instead trying to help customers and making money by it, is taking easy approach of taking money with promise of doing nothing...

bump. still curious on whos gets the diamonds for these functions if anyone does truly know.

Diamonds are purchased from Gameforge.

They are then deducted from your balance when used to buy/rent stuff ingame and they go nowhere - nobody gets them.

The ability to rent portable versions of the mailbox, auction house and bank was removed from the game UI before it even entered beta. Thus, Frogster (at the time) & Runewaker decided these would not be made available.

The fact that they can still be accessed via script or addon is irrelevant. If these commands were disabled in the next patch, any lost diamonds spent on renting the feature that cannot be accessed via the standard UI will likely not be returned by Customer Support.

Basically, these features have been removed from the standard UI and are used at your own risk.

Now, I'll leave the thread open to see if we can return to the topic of a house mailbox accessed via a piece of furniture or somewhat.

im not being facetious here friend. But i dont think you understand my question. I mean if i buy item shop items, the diamonds go to frogster correct? I know they disappear but im tryin to think of this situation as an example of commerce.
So when i type an in game macro that was precisely put there for a reason, whomever made the macro or put it there gets the diamonds.. now WHO put the macro there to get the diamonds?

Cerburus, did you ever hear of Frogster being closed, all employees being fired and Frogster EU taking over, which later (or was it before) was purchased bu Game Forge, who dissolved Frogster EU as well and now only company we deal is GF, based in Germany? That is where your RL money is going to when you buy dias.

I can't care less about mailbox/AH access in house... as if is for DIAS, I am not paying it. I got bunch of home energy when they introduced DIAS NPC, but since game is becoming more of a cash cow and more expensive, I can not offset cost of play with DIAS NPC, so will minimize house energy use.

When you purchase diamonds from Gameforge, your money leaves your posession and goes to Gameforge. In return, Gameforge will credit your account with diamonds.

When you purchase stuff from the item shop, the diamonds are simply deducted from your account balance. They do not go anywhere at all - they are simply removed from the game.

The rentable mailbox, auction and bank may have originally planned to be made available ingame and the feature was clearly programmed to be available by 'draining' diamonds from your account that you bought from Gameforge.

The macro/script command or addon just lets you access this hidden feature and the diamonds are 'drained' from your account accordingly, should you choose to use it. Nobody gets the diamonds.

What would take for someone to ask and question why those were disabled?

Not that I would like to rent any of them at current price and without offset of DIAS NPC, but still would be nice for some players...

EDIT: That feeling like when I try to get my kids to figure out do something on their own, as part of learning them to be more independent ....

I doubt that getting an answer as to *why* the "official" in-game ability to rent portable versions of the Mailbox, AH, and Bank will never be told or made public. It may have been completely forgotten by this time. However, it's obvious that someone, or several someones, looked through the lua code, found the UI scripts, and incorporated them into at least one addon, as well as making them public so they could be used in macros. I'm not interested in discussing or debating the relative goodness or lack thereof.

You can "purchase" the Convenient Mailbox on any day of the week from the Ruby Shop (cost: 50 Rubies, ten uses). Every so often, the CM, CB, and CAH are also made available during IS sales. I have several of each, but don't remember the packages they came in or what the cost happened to be (in Diamonds).

I would also like to point out that if Gameforge asked Runewaker--and that's what it would take--to remove or disable the lua coding for those three items, anyone who had either spent Rubies or Diamonds for those items, or who had "rented" them, would essentially be SOL. Their items would be rendered useless, and any Diamonds expended for "rental" would likely be wasted and I doubt that Support would refund them. Why? The player(s) used an unintended function in order to rent the service(s). Personal responsibility would rear its ugly head, no?

Be careful what you ask for. You might be terribly disappointed with what you end up receiving.

Using that logic, Gameforge still benefits from people renting these, because more diamonds are bought. They may not go anywhere, but you have to get those diamonds from somewhere...which is either directly (with $) from Gameforge, or indirectly (with gold) through players.

Either way you put it, removing the option to rent these would result in less diamonds being bought. People buy diamonds just for these. I know a lot of people that use them. While I'm fine with things staying how they are, claiming that Gameforge doesn't benefit at all from people renting these is false.

I never said Gameforge doesn't benefit from it at all.

Read my first paragraph again. Gameforge benefits when the diamonds are bought from them. How they are spent ingame doesn't matter.

i bit late to this thread but thought a necro to add my experience would be ok, i have been using the feature for probably close to 2 years now and never had a problem losing diamonds or anything related to the functions. No reason for it to "Not" be an "official feature" imho. 2 cents inserted.

I'd just like to come in here and remind everyone that whilst these macro commands will work and give access to the Bank, Mailbox and Auction House, they are not officially supported by Gameforge and should you have any problems with them, you are entirely on your own.

I split my sides laughing at this "official" admission of "not offically" supporting an inherent part of ROM.

now if we could just get a portable vendor too
