Cross Server Dungeon Runs?

Well, why not? We already have cross server PvP (Siege), so why not have a cross server LFG kinda thing that allows groups to be rapidly created to run dungeons?

I think it would be good for those who either cannot find a guild their level or for those that have those odd and whacky work schedules that don't permit them to play when a good majority of the players are elsewhere, or sleeping, or just doing something else.

I think there would be problems with having the loot transfer out with you when you leave the group-into your server

I agree. Would take a ton of work to get working properly in game but I think in the end, most people would benefit from it. Chat might be a bit wonky over servers, and looting could be problematic. I think it's a good idea, never seen it done before really. Servers are sort of separate areas. Not sure how it would work on back-end but for the players it would be awesome.

I've seen this done on another game, so its definately doable, and benefits everyone a lot (with a nicely working instance group finder - without one, instance runs don't happen, cross server or not).

Why do US servers have to be that separate anyway. I say allow cross server instance runs and make AH cross server (is there a benefit from each US server having an independent economy)? I guess the main issue, besides the coding of course, would be people not wanting their efforts help gear other servers, although I don't have a problem with that.

The arenas have cross server pvp instanced groups, so I imagine chat would look like that.

I've seen it done too, but I think how doable it is would depend on how any game is programmed & set up.

Well, same server siege wars tend to be bad as well. I think we can just blame siege on that performance.

I can't wait to cross server run and have them all ninja need and then they just get away with it.

Need to think of more ways to prevent that, but, I do like this idea.

+1 to this idea.

Allows a lot of smaller guilds with a select few well-geared people to team up with other guilds in the same situation to form a large enough group.

I know this is an older thread, but it really has merit IFF ( if-and-only-if ) when you enter an instance, a copy of your toon is copied over to an instance server and then player data is copied back to their real servers periodically; as well as when they leave the instance.

If RW were to implement something like this, I would recommend there be only 2 options for loot: Greed & Pass. No Master Loot & no ninja-needing.

My take on this is that when you walk into an instance, you would first enter a lobby where all the players who want to run that instance are sitting. If you already have your party set, then the PL can click [Enter Instance] & if not, the PL could invite people into the group prior to starting the instance.

This would take a lot of stress off the main servers, since instancers would be on another server altogether.

siege works this way (copying the players to the siege server) AFAIK. now i'd like to refer to post #7 again ;)

lol :)) I saw your post :)

& yeah, I would definitely volunteer for this.

Let's be honest here, Siege is just not well done; no real good way to put it. :))

If done well, there shouldn't be too much of a problem since the instance runs will be pve and not pvp.

Guild Wars 2 offers this option. It works great and people even set up an external site to "Look for Group". You can even guest to the other servers which is really cool. The only difference with GW2 is that every person gets there own loot so there isn't the issue of Ninja Needing. This is something that could always be thought about for RoM also.
