possible solution ( server merge)

looking after so many servers cant ensure proper care on all servers, so instead of all those half dead / almost dead/ dead servers, make few mega servers and transfer all accounts to those servers.

few servers, easy monitoring, more ppl, more alive game, more fun...........

my suggestion is make 3 mega servers ,
1. US (PVE) - merging all rom US PVE servers,
2. EU (PVE) - merging all rom EU PVE servers,
3. ROM PVP - merging all rom PVP servers of US+EU,

merging maybe hard but after this one time hard work it maybe proved easy to maintain in future

PS: if u do consider this suggestion seriously then be sure not to loose ppls account data and items or this may endup killing rom entirely lol

I really like the idea. This could improve the performance of Siege Wars and AH prices would probably drop due to the increased supply of goods.

Yea i dont wanna merge with artimus i like safe reni as it is tho merging the pvp servers together might be a good idea they dont have that much playerbase

I think merging is a great idea. Maybe not on the large scale you are thinking but maybe 2-3 PVE servers per US and EU... Not just one. However, reducing the server number to increase population, guilds, players, wealth, diamond sellers...good idea.



Plus it means less servers for GMs to have to jump around to... meaning more GM per server :)

We would have to have gm's first.

Im all for a server merge, if they merge the Au server I will start playing again until then I spend my $$ elsewhere
Everybody with 2 brain cells can come into the forums and make up a story within 10 minutes about how they got banned for nothing.
Everybody with 0 functional brain cells will jump on any good story and simply start bashing either us Mods, the Support or GF per se.

I REALLY think that with the ninja move of the AU servers, if they are located in the US. They need to be merged with US servers. You all got the ping already, might as well get the community in game :)

i cant remember the account i was using here in chap 2, but i suggested a server merge for us pvp servers years ago. it was ignored then, and will be ignored now.

the only time, and i mean the only time frogster and runewalker capitulated to a player request was when we stopped buying dias to force them to roll back some stupid nerfs. i dont think there are enough players left to make them care about a game on life support, to make it worth going through that again.

plus they took a dim view on ppl messing with their money. the fallout was ugly.

this game is fun with lots of ppl, it sucks hard when you are the only one in veranus talking in zone, just to see activity in your chat log, not bcz you expect an answer.

reasons pvp servers died:
economy - the delay in moving dias back to the ah ( we waited from chap 1 when they were removed ) made inflation retarded and made it impossible for a new player to compete even on a basic fun level, never mind a competitive end game level

rule changes to reputation and the item shop item to remove bad rep -
1. red was a way of life, even into chap 3. delanis killed it. you had to be good so you could pick up quests
2. when ppl stopped dropping gear there was no point in killing them anymore, other than griefing, which gets old.
3. if i can kill 100 ppl and spend dias to wipe my slate clean, where is the risk/reward to pvp?

constant nerfs
i was a m/r from day one. it was fun, pvp was great. every patch from chapter 2 screwed with mages. i cant remember how many ppl i know quit over this. it doesnt seem like a big deal now, but in chap 2-3, if you were a mage it meant that your starter gear included sand and vasoline. when i play other games and i see a nerf or as they like to call it..a rebalance.., i quit. i stop caring immediately and quit. this is the only game i suffer through rebalances on and that is only bcz of the insane amount of time and money i have spent here.

siege versus care bear servers:
pvp players used to have to stat at least 1.5 sets of gear. when siege started and all these carebears came at us in full sets with bonuses and crushing most pvp guilds without knowing how to pvp, well, lets just say a lot of ppl said wtf, i can pvp during siege and move to a pve server where i can gear up in peace, and not have to worry about statting a set of costume gears to pve with.

it isnt that the game is dated, i play wow occasionally, and this is no better or worse. sure the graphics wont be FF-ARR or ESO quality but when you jack up your vid settings, the graphics are just fine to me

there is life left here. if they take this suggestion and merge servers immediately, and advertise the crap out of it so old players come back to meet new ppl, then that will be something to see. i hope they do it i really really do

PVP servers are not Dead, If they merged Indigo and Grimdal we both would be better off yes. Indigo can raid instances and we have 20+ on for siege a night. Some of your pvp info is outdated however. The item shop items to wipe away rep is gone. If you kill 4 times you cannot get rid of "yellow" status until it goes down naturally. There is no need to have a set of costume gear since we are a PVE server now basically with the option of killing each other (not an often occurrence) and PK trading. A player on Indigo can gear up in peace quite easily we have people do it all the time.

That move KILLED the Au server, within a week we would have lost 1/4 of the endgame population. Since then everyone including myself played less and less. When chapt 6 came out I played enough to get 2 classes upto 80 but there was never enough people online to go try beth HM. We had the Bedum bug That allowed a few of us to Basically 4-5 man it but that was pointless and gave no realistic challenge. The unfortunate thing is there isn't enough players left to even run ToSH. Log in and look at the AH theres nothing there last I checked there was 5 runes and 15 shell stat fusion stones.

Don't get me wrong I like rom but management at the time made a huge mistake moving the server and then not talking to any of the players, alot were perm banned from the forums as they were taking their frustrations out there, that only made things worse.

Could one server handle all of the US or Europe? We already have lag and crash problems. How much worse would be traveling in Dalanis or Varanas be if the population in them increased many times? PVP probably would be fine.

The servers can handle the load.

The issue plaguing Dalanis is that the 3d "artist" was lazy as fk and didn't stitch everything together right.

I think this could be a good time for GF to look into getting new hardware for the servers. Like, something more powerful than that E-Machines Celeron 300mhz pc :D
