Crafting and Adventuring

I think it would really help out everyone if RW would put Crafting on-par with Adventuring...

Here's how I suggest it be implemented:

1. Mats drop from mobs as well as mats that can be gathered; RW attempted something like this around lvl 60 or so and pretty much stopped doing this.

2. Recipes drop from all mobs

3. Rare recipes can be dropped by Instance mobs that improve upon Instance gear

4. Rare recipes can by dropped by Instance bosses for... even more powerful Instance gear.

3 and 4 are where I'd like to spend most of my time:

Basically, mobs in instances would not just drop mats for recipes, but also the recipes themselves to craft things "about the level" of the Instance in question. This way, people can still farm instances & give the recipes/mats to people they trust to craft them the gear they want; or sell them to crafters that can make them.

Bosses now, would drop recipes for the "best gear" available for that Instance. This gives 'Leet adventurers something to grind other than stats; they have to farm mats to make the best gear in the Instance. Of course, Instances will still drop really good gear; but the best gear will come from the recipe drops. And of course, the "best gear" recipes have mats that only bosses drop.

The best part is that regular Instance mobs will drop recipes to improve the instance gear. ie, you have a nice blue lvl 99 sword... you kill a mob and it drops the recipe to improve the sword... this would be a way for a blacksmith to turn that blue into a purple, orange or brown version @ the risk of "damaging" that sword ( lowering the +, tier, color, etc. ).

Now, when we add this all together we get the potential to make RoM something for adventurers and crafters alike. Whatever adventurers find in the dungeons, crafters can potentially improve upon.

tldr: Instances drop recipes & mats; crafters can use those recipes to make/improve instance gear.

i think the improving would work better if you could craft an item that, when applied, improves a specific piece of gear, and make this upgrading item, unbound, so you can trade/sell...

the reason i say this is because, for example, person A has "Leet Sword". He then finds the recipe to enhance "Leet Sword" into "Super Leet Sword", but it is a blacksmithing recipe, but he is a tailor...person B is a blacksmith, but wants to upgrade his cape to "Cape of Awesomeness", a tailoring recipe. A trade-able item allows both person A and person B to upgrade their gear without having to pay for an ABL, just to send it to get enhanced...

That would definitely make sense, Cike :) good shout-out! :D

The recipes should generate enhancement drops or some such... ie, "Leet sword enhancement Recipe" creates a bottle that has a chance of improving the "Leet sword"; but also has a risk involved like I mentioned before... chance of lowering the +, tier, color, etc...

of course, this could be a HUGE $$$ opportunity for GF if RW would also make Enhancement protection drops available in the IS... each drop is a 90 second buff ( 1:30 ) that prevents adverse effects from failed enhancement.

they'd make serious cash if they did it for jewels too...

but yeah, i am all for making crafters useful...i have an alc toon, but that's all i really need, and i am kinda sad that it's really one of the only worthwhile(for me, don't get offended) professions...

The other thing this would help would be getting crafting levels up. Right now, I see ppl on Reni kvetching all the time about the lack of crafting recipes to get up in level...

I have suggested something very similar before, about letting Crafters be able to improve gear.

Something like what is stated each profession makes something that can enhance current gear. Would like to see Alchemy be able to grant or turn gear into natural Overdura but I know it would not happen cause it would not be beneficial to gameforge.

Armorcrafting and tailoring are pretty screwed up to lvl 80 as far as being able to make full suits of armor, and we have no craft that really allows us to make jewelry.

So maybe they should add a new craft called Jewelery....

Point being is that all recipes prior to lvl 50 do drop out of instance and off mobs, is not till you hit lvl 60 in crafting that you can pretty much purchase all your recipes outside of Guild/House furniture.

Ycavan I do not understand anyone complaining about recipe availability prior to lvl 60, you can purchase white/basic recipes up to level 50 that can be used to level crafting, it is the green plus recipes that become a pain to obtain, and they are not really that rare from what I have seen you just need to farm the insta, but like all drops they sometimes can be elusive especially when you only looking for one in particular.

I meant later on when you're trying to go from like 70 on.. :)

That is odd, you can purchase all recipes either gold or mementos from lvl 60 up. For lvl 60 Dalanis....I know the chest recipes for gear crafts are obtained as you go through the zones, think Redhill offers the lvl 65 recipes, and TB offers lvl 70 recipes, while AKoR offers all the neccessary recipes from 72 and up recipes in all variety.

Then once you hit lvl 80 in a craft you can purchase your recipes from the trainers in Varans or Obsidian Stronghold. Oh and sorry think lvl 40 to 60 recipes are offered in Obsidian Stronghold as well.

And with all the necessary materials to level your craft can be purchased via Honor Points or Mementos. So it is very easy to level crafting just can require a good amount of time ( farming mems or gathering ), then the 1k plus attempts you have to go through to actually level is very time demanding even with all the new crafting speed/xp buffs available ( well never fully decked out a house with all crafting furnitre so not sure how much increase in xp you could get from doing that ).

Yes I am aware that the only way to obtain the rare materials for lvl 81 plus is gathering them atm, but you got to give the people that can gather at that level something of value. For the longest time the rare materials for 70 plus recipes was not available via a vendor, but the Honor Point vendor changed that ( not exactly sure when that was implemented ).

Nothing wrong with the crafting system in this game

Sounds like u want this game to turn into something like Diablo. I am legendary in all crafting and gathering and I have all the recipes necessary to make most things. All or most anyway are available already in all zones, they are bought with either mems or honor points. The only thing about the crafting is really the availability of rare mats, like blood palm and ironaxe. Spawn rates from the nodes for these mats are horrible lol. I guess that is why they are rare haha. I'm kind of glad they actually didn't put it for sale for honor points in OS. Gathering stuff like these should be adventurous and u get xps and tps for gathering. In terms of upgrading the weapons and gears by the aforementioned ideas I think could be a good idea but I don't think it's gonna happen. At the present moment upgrading gears and weapons are already done with plussing jewels and runes. Now if the plussing jewels were actually 1000% reliable I would be most happy. These plussing jewels are ridiculous lol. Sometimes I spend 20 bucks just to get one item to plus 16, that's highway robbery lol. Again good idea with upgrades but I think it would be better if they made all jewels plussing 100% and no failures. I may be just dreaming but it's worth the try. Stop ripping off the players GF and make us a lil happy haha 8o
