Compensation

Before I get started, THIS IS NOT A FLAME POST! If you want to start shite, piss off.

Ok now. It's no secret that Gameforge struggle to run a game, any game. So, in light of this, compensation for every time you fail at something giving compensation to your clients would be a very good way to make sure whatever idiot keeps stuffing up at Gameforge, gets fired, or at the very least gets a nice spanking. This will ensure your client base stays somewhat happy, and to remove twits from Gameforge.

I must say it again, this is a legitimate post, this is not a troll thing or anything of the such. I just think it is a really good idea, for both Gameforge and us, the customers.

Regards, A very polite customer.

While compensation would obviously be a great show of goodwilll from GF, i wouldn't expect anything tbh(nor do i think the players "deserve" it).

No, no, no, and no. Why is it that whenever there's a server crash, or a series of them, or whatever, that certain bloody-minded whiners demand "compensation"?

This is a free-to-play game, not a subscription game. All you have lost is time in-game. You have not paid RL money to Gameforge for the time you were unable to log in and play. So, I ask, "Compensation for what?"

If your server is down and you cannot log in and play, go find something else to do. Read a book. Watch teevee. Go outside and get some fresh air. Eat something. Take a nap. Play with your kids (if you've managed to successfully reproduce). Play with your pets. Whatever.

But please don't come to the forums to complain and demand that you be given something for free, that you certainly don't deserve.

mal, i've been trying to argue that same exact point for a while now...nobody seems to get it...

personally, i don't think we should get compensation either, but i won't turn down free crap if they do...

House energy
Bag rentals
mailbox/ah/bank rentals
IS potions with time limits

Those timers keep ticking whether the server is up or not.

But go ahead and tell the people that supported the game that "don't expect compensation for a free game" Great communication to the people that actually matter mal and cike. Building a splendid community.
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

At this point we just had the servers cash AGAIN. I just want them to fix it. Or if there is a time when the servers are most likely to crash, let me know so I can NOT be doing my mini games?

The only thing that compensation should be given on is stuff that is timed that you spent diamonds for that has become locked/disappeared while the server is down. Example: pack slot that you stored items in that expired while the server was down. Other than that, it's a free-to-play game. No compensation needed/deserved.

Although the server crashing is getting VERY annoying.

I agree that there are items that are on timers and when you can not use said items, perfect example is house, then yes, that should be replaced. I know, it's not much, but I work hard and earn my RL money that I spend on this game. Other things such as reset tickets, etc. etc.
heck no! Unless it's a major foul up, then up to them. As Cike said, I aint turning down free crap. ;)

Imo, it wouldn't hurt if they gave out non-item shop items as compensation. For example, some golden eggs...

Doesn't hurt their profits, also makes players happy.

like i have said before, getting time dependent item and/or time dependent bonus should be able to be fixed via support, but that is on a case by case basis...i do not see the need for a blanket compensation....

So, maybe just compensation for those that have bought diamonds in the last 24 hours or so... we're not all free to play and without those of us that are paying, the free to pay people would struggle even more to level and get access to gears....

As far as compensation goes, for a server crash, nah, not a big deal. But when there's this many server crashes and we're being penalized by being logged off from reading encyclopedia's etc that cost real money, then ok, a little Public Relations might go a long way to help. Even if they could just take the time to jump into the forums and say, hay, we know something's up, this is what's happening and we're trying to fix it. Information that they've stuffed up somewhere isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign of them being part of a community, but instead we get completely ignored.... Not good PR. But still a great game to play :D

i am not saying GF should say "u lost stuff? tough, move on..."

what i am saying is that there is no need for blanket compensation for all players. if you lost items/time during the downtime, take it up with support on a case-by-case basis, don't come here and complain about how u were so wronged, and u "demand compensation", it will not get you anywhere....

Oooh, good luck. May it go better than the time I was stuck in traffic the other day due to road repairs and tried to bill city for my valuable time. They just laughed at me, made fun of my family tree and didn't give me one red cent.

nur my city council gives 2 weeks notice on major repairs that will impose on traffic and does it out of peak traffic hours whenever possible. must be courtesy since i pay taxes. they understand if they don't keep people happy they won't get voted in again. that and they don't leave holes in the middle of the road they open for traffic.

maybe his council sucks cos enough people don't make a fuss in the face of grose incompetance.

"yeah yeah so we are aware there is a hole in the middle of the road that consumes cars whole. we are going to hold up a sheet infront of it and distract you while we put some twigs and some leaves over it then let you drive over it again. wait what? you mean another car just fell down the hole?! quick get the sheet!."

well you do raise a valid point there. i'll give you the fact that he could indeed move to another town, doesn't change the fact that he enjoys the town and has invested alot of bar equity into it and shouldn't have to move because of the blatant failures of the city council....

you know what though maybe all i can hope for is that this game becomes so unprofitable for them that they onsell it to a smaller company who will treat its now small community in such a way that would draw new people and retain more of the older ones
