I am the one who usually gives advice never to use sarcasm on internet, because there is always someone who takes you seriously. And now I did and I successfully derailed the thread. Yay, go me! You guys do realize none of that actually happened, right?

Back on topic...

If we can get Gigi to dance on the table, wearing nothing but Gigi string, that would be all the compensation I need.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

yeah, we know it was sarcastic(like everything else u say), but u set up a great hypothetical situation that parallels the game quite well...

also, i don't need to see gigi nearly naked...pick one of the females if u are gonna suggest that rusty...

This post is not over the recent crashes, it had just prompted it. For years we watch GameForge fail, for years we go, meh. I've had enough of just meh, and we do (dias buyers) deserve to be compensated for how badly they manage the game.

BUT, the whole point of this post, is getting GameForge to tidy up their act, and god forbid, stop forgetting about the US/AU scene. EU is run like clockwork. I'm fairly certain they will start losing money if they have to hand out freebies to EVERYONE! Hence, they will have to pick up their game in order to make the $$$$.

Get the point?

Still to this day, i prefer ROM over any other MMO out there. It is a great game, yes, even though GameForge fail so hard at running games, it is still awesome (Thanks Runewaker).

Then stop buying diamonds. Simple as that. Then you won't feel they need to compensate you.

Bottom line is: No one's forcing you to buy diamonds to play the game. For a very large portion of my RoM career I never bought a single diamond, and was able to keep up with runs in DL/ZS pretty well and tank fairly effectively back in the day. While diamonds certainly enhance your abilities to play your class effectively and be "better", there is no subscription fee, there is no gun being forced upon you to buy diamonds, and GF likely makes enough money from their subscription based games to be able to continue to offer this game for free. I've known loads of people that used to be regular diamond buyers and due to the recent issues stopped buying (I'm one of them). Guess what: The game is still here.

Therefore, since you're not paying to play the game (playing the game versus winning the game is totally separate) they owe you nothing.

And...(forgot to multi quote)

I'm not sure why Pinkhat's scenario parallels the situation as mentioned. You're talking about requesting to a municipality compensation for something you pay taxes for, something you're FORCED to pay taxes for to maintain. It's not the same thing. Your property/sales/income taxes go into road maintenance and you're forced to pay them. You're not being forced to buy diamonds.

(this is mainly geared towards my state, Illinois and our toll roads in Chicago) A more proper scenario would be if you were on the toll road and there was construction. The toll authority doesn't owe you anything because you're not forced to drive on the toll roads to get to where you were going. Although there are some arguments to that fact, I believe there is some sort of law that makes it so that you cannot monopolize a route to collect tolls. I.e. there is always an alternate route that is not tolled that you can take. Of course, I used to think this until there was a service call I had to go to in Philadelphia. All the bridges across the Delaware to get back into Pennsylvania from New Jersey are tolled except for one up by Trenton. I don't know anymore, possible bad example.

I would disagree with this. Runewaker is doing next to nothing for this game. Look at all the bugs forwarded to RW that they never fixed or took them years to fix. That's not on Gameforge, that's all on Runewaker.

And yes, RW does have the ability to fix bugs quickly. According to Sony, who is publishing RW's new game, when they send a bug report to RW, RW sends them a patch within 3-4 days with the fix, sometimes even overnight. That should tell you just how much they still care for this game.

@Ruisen I think what you said has a good point.

Me personally I have seen a lot of improvements done since Gameforge has taken over especially over the last few months.

I just wonder why Gameforge cannot flat out purchase the game from RW and become the Producer as well as the publisher.

That way they can place a competent IT crew on the code to get it fixed and most of the bugs worked out.

Because I honestly feel like it is in Runewakers best interest to not support this product anymore because it now is if you can consider it competition for their "Other" game which is being produced/backed by one of the biggest companies in the industry. No matter what Runewaker may be saying their actions speak LOUDLY.

So I am on topic, I do not feel like I am entitled to any compensation for the technical difficulty the game has been experiencing and been around long enough to expect these issues. Fixing the issues so they do not reoccur would be the best compensation they could do imo.

RoM's biggest problem is Runewaker & DP.

DP launched earlier this year and has had content updates almost every month whilst RoM has had content updates only every 3 months or so right since the launch.
DP launched earlier this year and has had level cap increases almost every months whilst RoM has had cap increases only every 3 months or so right since the launch.

The publisher of the game should not matter - Sony or Frogster or Gameforge should all get their bugs fixed within a decent timeframe and not left to gather pixeldust in a spreadsheet somewhere.

RoM Chapter 1 bugs (2008/2009) still to be fixed:
  • Rest now Brave Warriors! (Can't be delivered once Aukuda has disappeard)
  • Journey Together (Path to Harf is zig-zagged)
  • Instance Maps (Don't show up in instances - World Map shown instead)
  • Necropolis of Mirrors: Resonance of the Other World (MPC skill also hits other NPC's, Hormone Crystals and Sigils)
  • Howling Mountains: Moongorge often has 'Can't see Target' issue while the mob is in sight and right in front of you
  • UI Scale and map coordinates not in sync (If UI Scale is activated the coordinates of the mouse no longer match the coordinates of the player when on the same place - coordinates are wrong when UI scale is activated)
  • Bloody Gallery event banner still scroll late at night when the event they're needed for is no longer ingame
  • Magic Stones (Snowflake Festival) cannot be clicked & have massively high failure rate

There's probably more but these ones are now past their 5th birthday, just like me...

The Magic Stones were bugged in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and I'll bet they'll be bugged again in 2013.

tbh, it's more GF than RW...the game has improved significantly since the distributor changed(frogster->GF), and if any1 has played RW's other games, they are not that impressive at all, and i believe the population of their new game will just dwindle down to a cult following(like RoM) once the "new game sheen" has worn off, as it still retains most of the issues people hated RoM for(lag, ping spikes, memory leaks, etc...did i mention deplorable fps?)...

on topic: no blanket compensation needed. if you lost stuff due to downtime, take it up with support...

I'm a little frustrated by this post. It's not that I have a problem with anyone feeling like compensation is a good idea.

For me, it's just that I would love to see them make good on the promise to give RENI and OSHA a second chance at 19 diamond Daily Reset Tickets. I really could care less about ANYTHING free, I would just like to be able to take advantage of what every other server had the chance to get.

What frustrates me is that posts asking for free stuff might make some GMs feel like nobody is serious. I understand that this game is in business to make money. I don't begrudge anyone that. It's just frustrating that something I need, and could have bought at the best price in a while, is not available to me... at no fault of mine.

I share the same concern/opinion. Kalvan posted that he was looking into it but I think it kind of fell off the radar. I will bump that post and shout in IRC to see if I can get some feedback. That was a very valuable sale.

I'll say this..

I buy diamonds. Nobody forces me to buy diamonds. In light of the fact that there was a DDoS, I don't feel the need to be compensated.

& those 19 dia DRT sales? always going on... ALWAYS.

When was the last time we saw Madness X runes go on sale? ;) *hint hint*

But yeah, let's move on and figure out how GF can have GM's come onto the servers to pass out storyteller event titles. ;)
