Suggestion that should fix a few problems

I have thought about this a while. If they cant merge servers easy to help low population servers. The next best thing for the game and everything (I think) is to make the AH go across all servers. Now there are a few issues/concerns with this. So lets go over those and fixes first.

1) Duplicate names- Fix: Take every name and add -Artemis to the end for people from artemis.
2) Too many items to look through- Update for more search results. Allow for 1000 results.

Now the good things:

1) more diamonds so more competition, this should make diamond buyers happy
2) More gear in the AH to drive prices down, good for gear buyers.
3) the server population of each server is less of an issue, because you can still gear up to the top, Regardless of server
4) More stats to drive prices down for all interested.

I really think that the server merge may be too much for RW to program. However, I think a total overhaul on the AH is something they could do. Also implement a lot of AAH into the normal AH. That is Really easy, someone has already done the work. I think it is about time and I think it would help all around.

It's actually easier to merge servers than it is to do a cross-server AH and mailbox. Heck even buying diamonds is forced into a specific server

A server merge requires a competent db admin
Your suggestion requires runewaker to do programming and we all know how well that ends up.
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

This wouldn't end well. Server economies are too different. Some servers have billions and billions of gold while others have none. For example, on Reni I'm sitting around 1b. What I could buy on Reni for 1b differs drastically with what 1b would get me on, say, Palenque. Back when we had 60-80k/dia Palenque was sitting at 20K/dia.

It would just not work out well. Some servers will always have more gold than others. Especialy in the first few months/years.

well I wonder how much worse/better the idea would be than the shutting down of diamond trading in the AH... which is the new news from the AU server starting tomorrow.

Server merges would balance the economies over time, after the initial shock..

Palenque diamonds are ~300-350k each currently, however most of the gear is priced to reflect that now,

..babbles..
30 million plus gold for 100 diamonds (about $5.00 u.s.d.), but that one guy in world keeps saying he will get me over 3 times that for 6.99 and they have been there for months now, so they must be as legit as walking in to someone's throne room while the gates are still up, but i cant help thinking that they wouldn't be there if someone wasn't buying them...
