Item Shoppe NPC

With the revamp of the diamond trading system, it would be interesting to have an NPC that sold "random" Item Shoppe items @ 10x diamond NPC rates. ie, if current dia->gold rate is 23.5k gold, then a 9 dia item like Basic Weapon Driller could be sold for 2.115.000 gold.

This would help the economy by being a gold sink... let's say this NPC's only offers the random IS item of the day to "actively" playing toons:

1. Toon must have completed 10 dailies
2. Toon must have completed 1 mini-game
3. Toon must have completed 1 instance

Maybe have this vendor also sell things like golden eggs @ 1 per day?

kinda like a new Owenstein.

First, I think the idea of 23.5k per diamond is ridiculous, even assuming the price at 10x the rate. I really don't care what people are buying that would normally cost diamonds. Second we have had the ideas of gold for IS benefits, but not the items. That is a far better idea. You pay your X amount and get the effects of an angel sigh for the next 24 hours, etc. Cant stock up on them, etc.

I am all for gold sinks but having people allowed to buy up items that would costs diamonds for IG gold, it should be the benefits of such items and not the items themselves. This would allow at some times to buy... pack rental space, house energy for gold when they do it. Another good idea for a sink.

For instance, if they put up drillers for sale, someone could buy 30 of them for gold and then not buy any in the near future for diamonds. Bad idea for GF. Now if you could purchase the ability to put that slot in gear at that moment... That is different. That means someone there at that time can buy it for gold, not stock up ahead of time to avoid spending money.

I still think we don't need to be looking for ways to make it easier to not spend money on this game. It should more shift to cheaper in RL money to play... not easier to play for free.

The problem there is that the players are too entrenched in their idea of "I shouldn't have to spend ANY money", to change their ways. GF could triple the amount of diamonds you get for your $$$, some people would STILL not spend ANY money.

My ideas are geared towards getting rid of in-game gold :) & I do like your idea of IS item EFFECTS :D

Another way to do this would be to have NON-STACKING 1-day items for sale :)

Any suggestions that promote gold sinks are welcome in this thread, I just threw out one that I thought would help players get rid of all their gold & the stipulations I put in there would make it troublesome for players that make bajillions of alts to take advantage of these deals.

yeah that is true, pets were a great one, cause it takes a LOT to level them, but now most that have a lot of gold have their pets already done. I think Owen was great.

I mean I think it would be good for some items for gold, Course if the plussing gems for gold were a little less... faily, that coulda been a good one too.

Part of the problem is that GF inherited a system with 10 kinds (yes, folks, we are at 10 kinds) of currency. This needs to be changed, so that everything you do in-game gets you either gold or X; do away with the other 7. Phirius shells = X, Phirius tokens = X, EOJ =X, DP, PoM, HP, Bot1&2 - all of them = X (and AM = X). Make it all into one other currency. It is kind of ridiculous to have ten kinds of currency. I understand why it came about, but it is really just a mess.

OK. Now you are down to two kinds - SINK EM. Make something that everyone wants, that can be bought with either - for instance, you can either buy a piece of gear with gold, or go hunting the X currency and trade that. If you do it with gold, make it cost a LOT (do some calculations on how many runs for gold it would take to get it, perhaps?). But the balance here is that it can't cost more gold than the effort it takes to get the X currency item. Right now, one of the reasons gold is (basically) worthless in this game is because you need stats. You can't buy stats with gold. It takes phirius tokens or diamonds for the puri, and one of the other 7 currencies to get a piece of gear. Gold doesn't even enter into it (ok, 16,000-90,000 as a "laughable gold sink" for the item). So, of course the cost of the puri+stat (especially rare stats, another thing that needs to be balanced) costs more gold = more gold going to single player who can farm (another past error, letting people farm certain bosses for months then shutting them off, like the 85 gear phirius gear buying now shut off = skyrocketing prices).

I mean, overall, if you want to make the game more stable, quit messing with currencies, decrease the number thereof, and put in decent sinks that affect BOTH kinds of currency equally.

(ps. I am aware that we are actually at 12 kinds of currency, diamonds and rubies were intentionally left out, as they are not "in the game" - only available to pay players*)

I like your idea of IS effects. I would go a little farther though. If the plan is to keep people from stocking up on something like Angel Sigh's, then why let them have the same duration? Wouldn't this in effect be like stocking up if they could get the buff daily? How about, you can get the Angel's Sigh buff, but only for 12 hours. This way you can have it for the instances and such like that, but you'd couldn't basically keep in on permanently. This would still give the gold sinks the players are looking for, while giving them a benefit worthy of spending gold on.

Other IS for gold ideas...

Angels Sigh (12 hours)
Daily Reset (resets FIVE dailies)
Basic rune slot driller
Allow coloring of items
Xp/tp buffs that give 10% from kills
Allow the use of pay world chat (maybe 500k per statement, with a min required level)


These are just some items/effects that could be use as a gold sink and that players would spend gold on.

After talking with some guildies, we came up with a few changes and additions to possible sinks.

Angel's sigh (2-3 hours) = 5 million
Daily reset tickets (resets 5 dailies, but gives no tokens) = 7.5 million (1.5m per daily)
Allow coloring of items (set a diamonds to gold ratio for this, ie 1 dia = 500k gold)
10% xp/tp bonus from kills for (2 hours) = 4 million
Allow the use of pay world chat (maybe 500k per statement, with a min required level)

Reset minigames .... (keep token requirement)

Malatina reset (surv and cot) = 12 million
Goblins = 9 million
Ancient treasure = 5 million
Andor = 5 million
Memory game = 3 million

Golden eggs = 2 million per egg, limit 5 per day. (Make them bound)

Costumes. Have a generic version of IS costumes available at a costume NPC.
Each piece would cost 3 million. Buying a complete set would get a 15% discount.

Pet transformation potions that change the appearance only. 20 million, 1 per day.

Weapon wardrobe slots. (10 maximum slots) 100k gold for first, doubling with each additional slot purchased.
Open wardrobe slots (available to put anything you want in it). Cost per slot to be determined.

Instruments. Rent an instrument for 1 hour per day.


Of course the prices are subjective and can be adjusted, just some ideas.

I really like this idea. I was thinking maybe sell it for siege too - allow players to buy Phoenix Redemption buff for siege (expires when you leave siege; it is for siege only, but perhaps they can design it so you regain the buff when you re-enter siege after crashing?).

Phoenix effect would still have the 10 min CD as regular phoenix - you can't buy another until the Phoenix Prohibition debuffs wear off.

They could activate Cedric and make him sell you diamonds 200K to 250K per, you would have a gold sink right there, pretty easy. Put a limit of 20 diamonds per account per day.

Just a question here, wasn't supposed to have an npc named Felix that would sell diamonds? If is the other one, is not working at all, only the npc that take your diamonds is active, so is pretty much worthless.

I was never against a gold for diamonds NPC, just that they have to make sure people do not exploit the crap out of it. If i have 80 accounts and get 20 diamonds on each account, i could potentially have 600 diamonds on every one of them after 30 days. And then be really F2P but would not help pay for the servers at all. So they have to make it so non exploitable and fair.

Maybe like once a month buy 50 diamonds per account from that NPC, so at least it would let people be able to get them on alts for house energy.

Cike, do not forget, who was one of the main advocate to Dionnea to get the NPC's back? who bugged them on threads for it till we got them? me and a few others, all the rest were just complaining it would never happen, well it did, they tried and people could exploit the crap out of it. So now they have to find a way to do it right. Some people think it's just click here and there and voila it is done, but i am pretty sure it takes more than a few clicks to make it right, so patience as they said they are working on a solution for diamonds on AH and maybe that npc too ;-)

I would say, diamonds for house energy only or energy orbs that can be bought with tokens or even some event to give that, why would someone put a feature on a game that cannot be used by everyone? Also there are other things that would need some explanation.

-when you're on the beggining of the game you use NPC's tables to craft, then you BUY your own crafting furniture, for who you're paying the crafting fee? Shouldn't it be free, since you already PAYED for it?
