It is a good idea,however it has been suggested many times before. Read the prior threads. Another major problem is there is a small group of people who have maxed out all their gear and want to keep other people from doing the same who are doing everything in their power to keep diamonds out of the AH. So they can remain gods in siege and pvp.

So It's to my understanding that diamonds were taken out of the AH due to gold spammers making a profit from that. My idea would be have diamonds that you can buy and gift from the item shop that once sent would be bound to the character that receives them. If you could just have them be an actual item that took up inventory space but still usable as currency then the problem is fixed.

Not just gold spammers were making a profit on it. Players were abusing it too. I just always have to remind people of that cause it is easy to think the evil gold spammers caused the problem... It wasn't just them, everyday players were screwing the system up too.

IMO a compromise that would probably work for everyone, including GF, is to offer vouchers that players purchase using in-game gold and redeemed for diamonds. This would give the game a badly needed gold sink, allow GF to set the gold to dias prices and keep dias out of the AH.

My concern over this of course is that it could promote more players buying gold, something many if not most games have to deal with on a constant basis anyway. So not perfect, but something that might be the start to a workable compromise.

Changing gold to dias is usually called a "Cedrik". It was advocated by many as a way to attract new and keep old players. But as per little hints left here and there by moderators - won't happen.

I can't see how your vouchered Cedrik were to be problems-proof: ppl would start using this on 1000 alt accounts right away.

I don't get how your points explain why this would make sense from GF point of view. It's not like GF is throwing a party to celebrate each month without dias on AH? It's not that keeping dias out of the AH is _the_ purpose.

I wasn't referring to Cedric, he was a useless gold sink IMO. I'm talking of a more significant gold sink comparable to current market trade rates averaged over all the servers (geographic and currency issues non-withstanding). For example, let's assume the average rate for dias on US servers is 100k per. The NPC would sell dias vouchers at 100k per. No need to use the alt army on this one, gold IS a finite resource and most of us never really have enough of it rather than the other way around.

Why this makes sense for GF is simple. We still have a very large excess of gold in the server economies due to gold seller AH manipulation (as well as direct sales) earlier in the year and many players acquired quite a bit of gold. This has affected the economies on all the servers and creates a major roadblock for new players when prices in the AH are far beyond their reach. Creating a more significant gold sink to get some of that gold out of circulation will help to balance the server economies which is something GF (any/all game managers) needs to do.

Putting diamonds back in the AH is simply a bad idea IMO. People might be on their best behavior for a week or two but then we'd be right back to both gold sellers and players abusing this feature and causing further inflation in already (almost) hyper-inflated server economies.

Nonetheless, gold spammers AFAIK weren't reselling dias. They were buying dias for gold and buying megas for dias, to spam world chat. Locking dias does not solve it, you would have to take megas out of IS.

cike's modified solution: put megas in ptoken shop. put dias back in AH.

Ash's solution: Leave it alone.... its not that hard to find a trusted dia seller...

Actually, Ash's solution is he will never condone AH diamond trading in any form. Bound, non-giftable, no megaphone buying. It's safer and more convenient for both sides. The arguments have always been about resellers and gold-spammers with the megaphones. If you are against that type of AH diamond trading, it might help if you explain why.

I don't like all the complaining about it its not hard to find a dia seller the only reason someone would really want dia's in the AH again is to buy and resell thats the only thing i can see you all wanting if you complain so much.

Read the suggestions. Bound diamonds could not be resold. So again, explain your objections.

I used the AH diamonds to gift my alts diamonds for bp/bank space rentals & the portables, so no reselling for me.

Actually, I halfway take that back; when I needed quick gold, I sold my diamonds w/ buy-it-nows.

honestly? I only want to be able to give my alts diamonds w/o making separate purchases. Wish the diamond purchase page could allow us to "divvy" up our diamond purchase.

ptokens would at least add an extra step to the spamming cycle. but then again, spammers are still using old accounts with dias and megas on them already to spam with. level restriction would work, but like you described, it would alienate a good number of new players.

My objection is there is no point all the servers have a trade of some form join it and ask to buy dia's if its someone you don't know and your buying more than 1 item ask them to send half the item and you send half the gold there is no point to it the time spent to make them bound could be better spent twords other things like non beta sw or something.
