Was going through the general skills & honestly? I realized that I NEVER use disenchanting.
I was thinking an interesting rework of this skill could be similar to RAE's & Attribute Purifiers... with a cost. ;)
Caveats:
1. You cannot disenchant any equipment that is higher level than your crafting skill.
2. Each Plus on the item increases it's effective disenchant level by 1. ie, lvl 50 +16 = lvl 66
3. Each piece of equipment falls into a crafting category:
3a. Blacksmithing: 2-h Sword, Shield, Dagger, 1-h Sword, 1-h Axe, 2-h Hammer, 2-h Axe
3b. Carpentry: Bow, Crossbow, Staff, Talisman, Wand
3c. Armorcrafting: ( leather, chain & plate ) Upper body, Lower body, Head, Shoulders, Hands & Feet
3d. Tailoring: ( cloth ) Upper body, Lower body, Head, Shoulders, Capes, Hands & Feet
3e. Alchemy: Jewelry
Here's the process:
1. Select item to disenchant
2. If current crafting level < effective item level, inform user that this item will be destroyed for mats; otherwise inform user that if the disenchant process fails, the item will be destroyed for mats.
3. % chance = 5% + current crafting level - effective item level + buff(s)
4. If successful, a level 0 item is returned to the disenchanter w/ a chance for it to be BoE
4a. each stat on the item will be given the same % chance of being resturned
4b. If successful, a fusion stone containing the stat will be returned
5. If the process fails, mats will be returned instead
Basically, this will give players the chance to "reset" a piece of gear with the chance to destroy it.
Will most "advanced" users still use RAE's, EAP's, ABL's & Attribute Purifiers? sure, but this would fix the whole "lower level instances have gear that isn't worth ABL's" thing.
With this revised Disenchanting, people will destroy a crapton of gear, but it might make it worthwhile to run lower level instances & sell gear in AH or give it to friends.
& I don't think GF will lose any $$$ over this... people will still need to plus the gear that's returned.
