Disable "Glow" from weapon plussing

title says it all. just a little on/off feature in which you can disable/enable the "glow" on your offhand and mainhand weapons that is a result of plussing. if you are trying to achieve a clean costume, and then you spend time/money on a nice weapon agg, just to have it lost in a swirl of graphic intensity, and it can ruin the whole flow. i mean, u can never have the "perfect" thief/rogue costume if it looks like you are beating people with swirls of energy rather than stabbing with daggers...

not really a problem for bigger weapons, but smaller ones like daggers and thin swords just get so lost in the effect, not much reason to even take pride in the agg you selected.

I agree. As I said in another post, I wish they'd give us a break on a lot of the over-blown flashy stuff. What's the German word for >>>>!!! SUBTLETY !!!<<<<<<

+1 I completely agree. Would be a very welcome addition. I wan't to be able to turn off the glow from plussing as well. I have had numerous looks ruined by the giant glow coming from my weapon on several characters.

Totally agree, it's a shame to actually appreciate weapons you have to use "something extra" to remove the glow. Big +1 from me and hope it gets implemented into the game.

absolutely yes. a simple toggle option enable/disable glow will do the job quite easily. hope to see it soon. those who like the sparkles, just keep the option on..

i would, but then my dps would suffer a bit. we wouldn't want that, now would we?

all kidding aside, it would also help people with worse computers, as the swirlies are kinda graphically intense. it would help improve performance for them.

I see no reason why this shouldn't be implemented. They implemented a "hide other player effects", this would be another great help.

Ill shamelessly plug for a "hide costumes" option also though. It isn't a joke, I think for lesser computers, a way to just hide costumes, pets, weapon effects of other players would be a GREAT help on runs

It is about time for these options to be toggled.

yes, even with good computers, having 12+ people standing around glowing just eats up fps...

Actually, I very much like this idea also, as does the entire rest of the RoM community, minus the same 1 person ofc. Giving the option for the game to be more customized for less lag is great for everyone.

I like this idea as well, mostly because I don't care much for that glow. I have yet to read a reason as to why people disagree with the suggestion in this thread; if you can select whether you want the weapon effects or not, how will it affect the people who are against the idea? If Lemonater and Zidlef cared to explain their reasons, I'm genuinely interested.

It is a good idea, and works well. Can do it easily with the "against the rules" option, and I can honestly say that it helps fps quite a bit. Maybe not a major increase in fps, but less particles in boss fights helps a hell of a lot and means a lot more consistent fps.
Aka, RW, incorporate the "against the rules" option as an ingame function already >.<

you are entirely missing the point. i am not saying make everybody's weapon look the same, no glow, special effects, etc. i am actually saying lets have the complete opposite. lets give everybody the ability to completely customize their own looks, down to the glows(or lack thereof) on the weapon.

for some people, the swirlies are just horrid looking. for others, they are epic. personal preference, but lets at least give people a choice.

as harry said, can you elaborate on why you don't like this idea? unless there is no reason you are against the suggestion...

if you do not know what you are talking about, i'd kindly ask you to stay out of my thread.

@cammo: yes, it would be a great thing is RW implemented something that allowed us to turn on/off models legally. it would be a big help for fpps(as stated), and simply adds more customization to the game. after all, this game is known for it's customization(both class and gear). why not add graphics as well?

Me hast three reasons ter stand gainst this. One: Wit the effect hidden, other players no knoweth upon sight what lvl yer weapon be plussed ter. Two: Iffn they changeth this, there be a fairly good chance they twill breaker somethin else. Three: There be plenty o low graphic games out there, iffn that be what yer done desires. The graphics in this game already suffer from age, why maker em worse?

lmfao you cant be serious.

a. itll be client side, like all other graphic options, or did yu think because my graphics are on low it forces yours to be on low too? lol
b. there be plenty er games out there with better support/bug fixes/etc where you wont have to vworry about other things breaking, why dont you go find one of those instead
c. its an option
d. lay off the rum so your brain can function

Yeah Lemon and Zidlef, I like you both so let me put it in the way that I feel about it by laying it out systematically:

1) I have a REALLY good machine that can run 10+ clients at once, so lag really isn't an issue for me... but I still think it is a good idea.
2) We are talking about a client-side option to remove certain effects (most games have the ability through video options to remove effects for performance/preference)
3) We already have a "remove effects from other players" which is great and I use on all my clients
4) I don't really care what +ing others have their weapons at, we have +18s... and I don't care if someone wants to turn it off.
5) The reason I bring up hiding pets and hiding costumes is for instance running. How many people say they lag in instances with good computers? Plus I think it looks like a cluster $*%^, when you have 12 players with their pets out. Not to mention the Siege implications of this!! Remove the other players pets... easier to target them.
6) again we are talking about an option, if you don't want to use it... don't. If you are worried about others not seeing your sparkles/pet.... please elaborate why?
7) Lemon you make a decent point that they might mess something up, however with a client side option, and not something on the servers, I don't see what they could mess up that is all that important from a programming side. They can already hide spell effects from other players, so how hard is that to expand to weapon effects, pets, and costumes.
8) I would only use this option on instance runs, cause I don't mind it everywhere else in the game, but I think with 12 man instances, 12 pets, any warden pets, not to mention the pets constant Yammering, any zodiac pets that may still be showing... it is really a pain in the $@# to run with a large group. Not to mention would drastically reduce lag in instances.

Most games, have the way to customize if you see shell casings, if you see tank tracks, etc. Also other games allow those modifications on the client side. Since RoM has stated that client side alterations are bannable, then I think it is their responsibility to implement the options in the game for the ones they want to allow.

Again who runs around caring that others know what your weapon is plussed to...I mean maybe I am just not vain enough to understand... but I figure they can inspect my equipment and find out all they need to know.. if they care. I however, don't usually care about others gear (I will admit one night I stalked and scanned over BB's equipment a long time ago to see how to stat my gf's character... sorry for that BB I just was lazy)

Honestly, I don't see why this shouldn't be implemented. You don't need to know the plussing of other people's gear. If you're so concerned about it, find them and search through the equipment they have on. And if them implementing this would probably break something else, then just add an item to the ptoken item shop that can remove or add the effect. At the very least, they haven't screwed up the Item Shop that much when implementing stuff, so maybe that route to add the option. I don't know. (If it get's put into the item shop, it shouldn't really be something that costs dias or rubies to do, because it's just removing or adding a mandatory effect when plussing a weapon) It's been the case as with any other things they've implemented that they might break something else. It's a fact of RoM. I've used multiple weapons that have been plussed. depending on the weapon, the swirls look epic. Other weapons though look terrible with the swirls. It would be very nice to be able to turn them off or on.

The graphics in this game already suffer from age, why maker em worse?
because i would love to see the beautiful sword agg that i had to track down and purchase. i even spent dias on the adv. agg. i want to use the graphics to see the weapon, not a swirl of color floating in my hand.

Iffn they changeth this, there be a fairly good chance they twill breaker somethin else.
this is actually a very valid point. we all know RW's coding ability. we all know it sucks. worse case, the on/off actually disables the actual plusses on the gear, so the ghost stats don't register(exactly like unplussed). i wouldn't put it past them.

to add on to what others have said. if they make this client side, then it doesn't even have to effect other players. i don't want to see weapon glow? ok, i turn off weapon glow(exactly like i can turn off spell effects, but for myself as well). i don't see any weapon glow. u like weapon glow? good for you, keep it on. it will change nothing for you.

looking good to other people is not my top priority. i'd like to look good for myself first. i mean, why else am i spending money on aggs and skins?

while it would be nice to be able to have my personal look be what others see (including or excluding weapon glow depending on what i like), it is not necessary, and may even be an additional step.

it all depends how they would ultimately implement it. i would personally like to be able to change what other people view my toon as well, but all i am really asking for currently is a way to change how i see my toon.
