As for adding LEGAL (built into the client) options to remove effects in-game, that's purely up to Runewaker to develop. Make the suggestion in the proper forum and it will be passed along. Detailed descriptions of the changes requested would be very helpful.
from the model folder thread

How about effect options for:
1) Weapon Glow (from plussing weapons), as this thread suggests
2) Hide other player's wings or entire costumes/gear in general
3) Hide other boss/instance effects that cannot be currently hidden - I don't know the specifics myself, but this does come up quite a bit
4) Hide ALL of player spell effects (I'm pretty sure I still see all 20 flames flying at me from m/wd with player effects turned off)
5) Hide effects from flame towers and electric towers in siege (who hasn't crashed from encountering a bunch of towers?)
6) Hide players' cosmetic and buff pets?

My computer now can handle pretty everything without the fps getting low, but for many people, being able to disable certain effects would be very beneficial.

I love the list and think that it would be seriously helpful

They could expand the spell effects into a few categories also.

Is this expanding to a "these skills and effects lag me" thread? If so, id like to add cam flower (even when it hits me) and the warden crystal pets :\

Weapon glow is pretty bad, adds a lot of lag, and just aesthetically it obscures weapon designs, i put a lot of thought into what weapons i pick for aggs, dont cover them with some weird glow plz.

I think the problem that quaffy has is that skills that are directed AT you are not hidden. Skills in which you are either the source or target are shown, other skills are hidden. Oddly, AOE's count as target less, so they are also hidden.

Well one person says it's only to see the agg on their weapon LMAO!! it's not even for the lag, sad so sad. DK, i agree they should give the option to do so, but there were other issues that needed to be adressed. If people are lagging out because of weapon being shinny, might be time to upgrade your computer or play on the lowest settings available.

Imagine if they get to Grotto or Pillars, talk about lag, no way they can even enter those instances, oh wait, some can't because they are never gonna level to do it loll.

DK, like you i can run 12 clients on my main comp and still get 35FPS without issues but i also use Cleanmem that was mentionned by a GM ;-). Ya some will QQ they wouldn't have to, guess what? that is not changing soon and this is an incredible option, they got a free version and a 4.99 full version. i mainly rarely crash out anymore except if i go to siege, but i can live with that.

I also dust off my computer every 2 weeks, run it cool, reset my router/modem every week, check my CPU/fan paste, tyvm DK for that info a while back loll ;-), defrag it, make sure antivirus doesn't start scanning while i am playing etc. Stop thinking that it is all Gameforge/Runewaker fault. You have a 5 year old machine that these things happens, who's fault is it? yours.

I want to see the glows of weapons, it looks cool and nice when i slash and dice rogues!!!!! mouhahaaha

even if it is for agg, this is simply a check/unchecked box to give people the option of having the weap glow
While we all love to marvel at the prowess of you computer, some might not be able to afford anything better, hence a f2p game
and yes there are more pressing concerns such as unbalanced classes but for most consumers, its the small things that keep them coming back or drives them away
even though the urgency is low, gameforge/runewalker should still take time to acknowledge somethign approved by a plethora of players

why is that sad? dress up is the only important part of this game :< everything else is secondary.

Players are able to disable effects of other players and run on low settings. The majority of players who have issues play this way. There is always a point where personal systems need to be upgraded to run new programs. As the game increases in size new standards for personal systems increase. This does not mean that each time a patch comes out players need to run and buy a new system.
Also many players enjoy the shiny parts in rom. They spend a great deal of money to become more shiny. Rom is a few years old and the graphics have mostly stayed the same. If the developers were to decrease the graphics fewer new players would make new accounts, especially if all of the players were stick men.

Well the original argument to disable weapon glow was the one I believe true. You say that doing this decreases the game graphics, but to players with the same thinking along mine, disabling the glow make some weapons look BETTER because its the original skin that looks the best, where an ugly glow can cover it up.

That being said, for me, I don't really care if this is implemented or not since I got my new staff skin. I personally love the glow of a +20 weapon and think it looks better then any other plus value in the game, especially when on a very plain looking skin. (I use a vendor white item like lvl 9? "Long Staff" as my staff skin.) Lovin' the look

I agree with the on off for the glow not cuz of lag but when im a m/r the thing keeping me from upgrading the offhand is cuz what i have is +16 and i wouldnt be able to make a new one plus 16 as fast so the glow would be mismatched for a while

I don't think a brand new PC will cancel out the massive memory leak issues and other things with the game though
