This is for another game going through a server merge:


All Rohanians will be affected by this new beginning.
And we are here to announce the upcoming changes
and what will allow you to preserve all your precious
belongings once this new gate is opened.
On January 01/06/2015 we will procee to conduct
a Database Maintenance to provide greater stability in this new Merged Server.
The following will be conducted during maintenance on 01/06
+ All Level 1 Character that did not log in since November 1st, 2014 will be deleted.
+ All Level 2 ~ 30 Characters that did not log in since January 1st, 2014 will be deleted.
+ All Level 1 ~ 49 characters that did not log in since January 1st, 2012 will be deleted.
+ All migrated characters from PH that did not log in
between Dec. 1st ~ Jan 5th 2015 will be deleted.
+ If the Guild Master was deleted due to the Character Database Maintenance,
it's Guild will be deleted.
+ After Character Database Maintenance, if the total Guild Members is less than 11
(1 ~ 10) the Guild will be deleted.
+ If the Guild Master did not log in since July 1st 2014, the Guild will be deleted.

THIS IS NOT FOR ROM ITS FOR ANOTHER GAME DON'T SPREAD THIS ITS JUST SOMETHING TO COMPARE AND MAYBE THINK, WHAT IF GF DID THIS SAME THING.

Pardon my ignorance if the answer is among the previous pages of this thread, but I have a character with the name "Cloakedschemer" on all US servers. I know this thread is about AU merging with US, but if/when US servers are merged together, what will happen? Since my reni toon was the first, he'll get to keep the name right? And all the ones from the other servers I'll end up having to change?

The CMs are using these threads from every RoM forum to compile a Q&A for us. Give them the time they need to actually make one. I personally would expect info late or middle January, and the AU to US merge in the middle of March.

It shouldn't take over a month to answer some of these questions.

The only interaction we got was a single CM reply correcting the notion that the merge would happen in the June timeframe (that notion is pure speculation). Other than that, we have just been repeating the same questions and theories that have been posted in other threads.

This lack of interaction is troubling. The idea of a server merge should breathe new life into the game - and IT DID...for a few weeks. It looks like whatever hope the merge inspired has all but drained away. We just had a new level cap expansion, a new zone and it's Christmas. And yet forum activity has plunged (maybe 3 new threads related to the patch?).

I hope they(GF/RW) haven't completely squandered this opportunity.

I said CMs... not GMs.... as far as I know, the person you're referring to is a GM.

I would love for a dev to come around and voice his opinions and concerns or at least someone to ask and translate just once for this important issue

As far as names being the same, Thalia will be the test server as assumed by many. So I wouldn't be too concerned about that just yet. If you are curious, Create a toon on Thalia, if your name matched one of the 5 - 10 players left there your just unlucky.

However... I am looking forward to the server merge if I don't leave the game till that time, and I will be screen shotting all my gear, not that it would make a difference anyway, but hey, do I care anymore.. not really, so good luck to us all when and if the merge actually takes place, ohh and to the lucky server who gets us Thalia players, I hope you are ready for the huge server growth.... LOL

Actually, there's been quite a bit of testing with this on the internal test servers and Thalia is just the best candidate as first choice for merging of the live servers.
I suspect this decision was made so that any unforeseen issues that arise can then be dealt with on only one merge before Gameforge proceed with further merges.

I would hope they make the mergers on a staggered basis. That way the full staff can be utilized to fix any problems on each merged server rather than spreading them out over many and taking far longer to solve the problems. Starting with the smallest servers, that way any problems can be prepared for and dealt with and changes made before they make the massive mergers on the most populated servers. It would also be a good idea to let the players know in advance when each merger is taking place and which servers were going to be merged. That way screen shots and preparations can be made.
The most helpful thing would be for someone from the crew making the mergers came on and let us know what is going to happen and when. Then take a few reasonable questions and soothe some fears. But I know this will not happen the long history of this organization is the institutionalized secrecy.

Yes, you can interpret what I said that way, but that was not my intention. But you're right - it makes sense that way too.

Well i would wish for them to do 2 servers for the US side and join them with the EU community. At least we would really have more people to play with ;-) no matter what since we are getting 110ms now with server on the same continent, which for me is just not right, at least we could maybe get less lag and new players to meet ;-)

I've just read what bleedingblak wrote about another game made me panick.

We have an alt guild, used quite a lot. But the leader basically stopped playing. The guild used to be active, and she started it. We kind of hope she would come back. Last summer she did log in and it was a really happy event, ppl calling others to log in 'cause she is online!

Now, there are three thoughts I had:
1. If according to rules similar to the above her account would be deleted it would really be a pity; ppl are coming back even after much longer breaks; even if they roll a new toon, the old one is their starting point... I'd say: don't.

2. If she gets deleted, our alt guild would be deleted too... It's OK, but it absolutely has to be announced _months_ upfront. There has to be time to vote on guuld chat for a new leader, send screenshots and requests to the support, and ... for the support to process it. Pity we cannot honor the old leader, but so be it - maybe the situation will be more healthy with an active leader; but this guild should not get deleted (even if it's mostly used for removing xp debt )

3. What bb described was a pre-merge clean-up; GF might get an idea to do it on all servers, not only Thalia. Again - fine, but it HAS TO be announced MONTHS upfront!

I would like to add a few suggestions to things that could be done about duplicate names on the different servers. I was wondering if there is any reason a space ( never knew what it wasn't allowed anyway) in the case where two names are put together as one. There is also adding a Honorific such as Madam, Ms, Lady etc to the beginning of the name, or adding a surname to the end of one. After all the average person has two names so would make sense to add to it. I find the lack of ability to apply a space and a second Capital letter to be a bit of a pain. Besides which the XXXX is not the best method of distinguishing toons

In regards to the mentions I have heard here about lack of advertising for RoM I often wonder why it isn't done, I see a certain social media even advertises their games. I understand that in the European countries it isn't really needed but the US and AU servers would benefit. Its a shame to see a game voted best in I believe in 2007 having to merge servers due to lack of players.

RoM has a great many possibility's and a lot to offer its a shame that it isn't being promoted.

If they do merge all the servers, I hope they have a plan in mind for worldbosses. 20 guilds fighting for that 1 worldboss with only 1 channel could get... ugly.

TIME TO UTILIZE THOSE GUILD WARS MAN! oooooh Gonna be so fun. Half the guild in PvP gear protecting the ones in PvE gear... oooh I can already see it. Brb I gotta change my pants.
