Umm... Grimdal is merging into Govinda, too... Also, the population on both Grimdal and Indigo is far too low to merge them and have a healthy community. Would you rather play alone and have pvp, or play with plenty of people and have pve? In my opinion, the latter is the logical choice.

OMG!!!! why in the @^#$%^#$*@*@ would gameforge even consider merging pvp servers into pve and doing away with PVP on those servers???? it makes NO sense when there are two PVP servers that could be merged together to PRESERVE the pvp for all of us on Indigo that have put YEARS and Lots of cash into our PVP gear and such. Many people play ROM specifically for the pvp system and being a player since CLOSED BETA i will go out on a limb here and predict that if PVP is lost on Indigo, the server will lose MORE members. they will simply move to Grimdal...the only remaining pvp server.
Just my 2 cents....why get rid of pvp when you dont HAVE to..it makes No logical sense at all.
i am VERY disappointed that my pvp built warrior/rogue will have to be totally rebuilt.

I was not aware that people did PVP 24/7 on the pvp servers...

Seems like most people just do not wanna have to buy ABL's to trade gear lol

So....if i understand this, they are doing away with pvp then?
seems like a shame to lose such a good feature of the game just for the sake of server population. If there were only One pvp server, yes the pop. would still be small, but would be the Only pvp server, so any New players would automatically choose it if they like pvp. i just was saying what is the logic of completely ruining the pvp aspect of the game when it isnt necessary to do so?. Seems there has got to be a better solution that will retain the Option to pvp. Otherwise the entire Reputation system will be useless, and thus Reputaion based title badges will be useless (and un-usable).

Which open PVP are you talking about given the server population of both Indigo and Grimdal?
The highest activity of PVP those two servers have (apart from SiegeWar or Arenas) is during a rare "kill a GM" event.
Everything else is just PK-Drop to avoid (Advanced) Bind Lifters to trade gear.

There will still be the PK Mode that you and any of your friends can use if you still wish to pvp in the open world. Also, the Reputation on the char screen and the Reputation for the Title System are two completely seperate entities. The Reputation system on PvP servers enabled people to loot items from other people (thus enabling pk trading), and changing how the npc's (such as Varanas Guard) saw you and how players saw your char name. Other than that, Reputation does nothing. There was going to be a system of a "Hell" where red players got sent after being killed by other players, but that was not implemented into the game. Also, there were going to be different bonuses to your character based on what your reputation was, but again, that wasn't implemented. Currently the only benefit of the pvp system is pk trading, and that is not high enough of a benefit to warrant keeping the PvP servers.

As Zeri said, your reputation doesn't actually buff you. It's sad :(

And as Saito mentioned, there is no longer open pvp on Indigo anyway, hence the reason I joined Artemis, went from 2+ years of straight pking to being one of the last 2 pkers alive on the server. It would be nice if arena's gave good rewards that way players who play for pvp would have something to log in for other then during siege war time. But keeping entire open pvp servers just isn't viable anymore with their low population imo.

well regardless of whether there are enough people on a server to pvp, my point was that there is no reason why the pvp element of the game Has to be tossed aside simply to fix population issues. that is the point i was trying to make. whether people are Actually pvping is irrelevant to the topic of whether or not it is Necassary to do away with it. It seems like it is just a side effect of them merginging the servers into a pve one, without them having to bother with trying to develope a method by which the pvp system could still be preserved as an Option in the game. Perhaps (just an idea), make open pvp only available in certain areas (ie maps), or change the PK mode effect to a PVP Active effect that Both parties must activate before either can attack. That way people who Wanted the added challenge of pk style pvp can just keep it toggled ON, and those who dont can likewise keep it OFF> these are just Simple ideas, off the top of my head. Just seems like they could come with a better way to merge populations without completely destroying the pvp system that (at one time) made this game the wonderous game it is.
Another Idea would to just add an OPEN PVP channel to each server.... anyone who wants to pvp openly simply switches to that channel. simple... :minigun: 8)

Why have a feature nobody uses for its intended purpose?

Again, all these ideas will just be abused to trade bound items without using bind lifters. Honestly I have to ask, how often do you do real PvP?

IMO, the ideal course of action in terms of PvP in RoM is to do an overhaul on the Battlefield minigame rewards. That's a topic that would need its own thread though.

They already have PK mode need both parties to keep it toggled on to do pvp on a pve server.

We had Forte in Vent the other day and I asked him how he dealt with Kill Stealing on his PvE server. He told us a long story about how some guy was stealing dog meat kills and he had to relog on his main char and steal the kills back which led to the original Kill Stealer to start whining.

On Indigo, we have this quick red button called "PK." It settles a lot of problems (which, surprisingly enough, don't happen a lot on Indigo). While I am fully supportive of the merge, I will miss PVP (even in its nerfed form).
I don't support 1 Server. I just like the Anagram - GOAT GRIP!

I always liked the idea of a designated channel for open world pvp (as dead as it would be) But it would be fun to miss around in on a larger server. Simply do away with reputation and you won't have people abusing the channel to trade items to each other, just have it there for enjoyment.

The only thing PvP is good for is for trading bound items, and you know that. If they want to make open world PvP, or a PvP channel or whatever, they need to do away with the possibility to drop items. That's the biggest reason open world PvP will NEVER take off in this game. Nobody wants to spend hundreds of dollars on gear and then have the possibility that someone can kill you in two seconds and take it.

Ah yes exploiting the game to get free gear without the need of an ABL glorious. Also PvP so much fun, start playing the game, go around questing, plus up your gear, stat it up and boom got killed and gear is gone, so much fun!! Talk about driving players awway lol oh wait, maybe that is why PvP population is so low hahaha.

Wanna PvP turn on PK mode and go at it. The only reason that people did it was for gear trading and cheap people. I always bought my ABL for gear i was selling or needing on alts, the years of being cheap are almost gone :P Don't start arguing this we all know it's true, can't wait for the merge to happen

yah the lastest post about the merger says autumn for the next changes. I was all excited and then read that and immediately back to "daillies only" mode.

I start to think that the next level cap will come before the server merge. I hope I still have interest to play at that point. I know Ill be hesitant to spend any of my PoM, and other currencies till I know it is coming in the near future.

"However, to ensure that everything is properly checked and tested, we don't expect this development to happen before autumn."

That was just for the "diamonds account ties across regions servers" part, not even talking about the next merge which was going to get me back in to the game, playing with new people.

Sigh, I agree 10000% Borella.

This is terrifying.

PS: GM's just because you don't agree with a comment doesn't make it "inflammatory". The amount of censorship of opinion on these forums is yet another link in the chain of GF's incompetence at running a game.

it is a little bit :P

But it is not hard to agree with the disappointment of looking forward to merges, just to find out they aren't coming any time soon.....

And that is me massively censoring how I truly feel about it.

I think it's awesome that we've finally gotten some rather clear communication. This latest bump in the server mergers communicates rather well I think that despite anything we are told or promised regarding RoM, GF will flip the script on a whim and just do whatever they feel like doing. Why fix bugs in the game when you can redesign web pages and forums - that is obviously much more important. Why merge servers that are hemorrhaging players when we can fix something that isn't even broken right now. As Dkjester said, this is me massively censoring how I truly feel about this.

This "diamond system fix" is just another thing to hide behind so they can avoid having to actually merge the servers. I don't know why I expected them to actually keep their word, they've never been reliable before. They clearly aren't going to start now.
