Post when server/Gameforge is down please

Hey,

Realise RoM is half-dead but it would be nice if you could please post when Gameforge goes down, so at least players would know, there is something wrong, you're looking into, no eta yet. This way, I would realise waiting around a few hours hoping Gameforge will load games on, would be pointless. Just a basic courtesy, which I can appreciate given some forum banner signature, may not be a high priority but does make good business sense. Things happen, no problem, just let us know please. Communication is important. Appreciate your consideration of this RoM team.

I am a fairly new player on a mostly dead server, this is a nice game bar the memory-issues when changing location. By the way, since I'm posting, please give us more time to buy things, I missed the new class slots, sorry not sure on 'correct name', although I checked shop several times. I hope I can grab some next time you put them on sale.

FYI, have not been able to get games to appear in GLive for two hours or so before the time on this post.

Well you can get the info through the forums, Facebook or IRC.

Class expansion tickets are a rare sale, as it was mentioned, it was a Happy Hour sale from 5PM to 10PM. You just gotta watch out for them, you can also check the AUS website of the game to see upcoming sale and information in advance. I do it all the time and tell the server and guildies about it all the time.

I could not agree with you more, that communication is hugely important. Any time the game servers are down, we post that info here.

You seem to be struggling instead with the GFL launcher. You do not need to go through this launcher at all. Read this thread for more info. I believe it will solve your frustration, but if it does not please say so here.

Thanks for responses. I am on a extremely quiet server, so while the guild has very nice towers for buffs, there is little activity, especially now the Xmas/New Year's period is over.

I used to ask questions but they don't always get answered, I guess because it is annoying and the older players just want to play their game, which likely they have done for years and a new person with nooby questions is ignorable.

Still, I like RoM, I'm grateful for the guild tower buffs. It is difficult enough solo, I played on pwi for many years, so I realise now I was spoilt, pwi has an in-game encyclopedia with every game item catalogued, it has an in-game friend matching database and due to the large player base there are several websites with information and the forums are very well organised with practically all non-alt factions having their own sites on shivtr.com.

Since, this is really a good game and younger than pwi, I can only assume lack of advertising is why not many are playing. Although, I must say, when you have just started playing and the first person to invite you to their home jumps on your toon and starts frottage your kneecap (since their toon is a dwarf) might be sufficiently upsetting for someone to quit. :ill:

I suppose you could always hop into the IRC and ask questions. I'm not sure if it will work well in your case, since the timezone difference is likely to cause some 'you're asleep while I'm awake and I'm asleep while you're awake' difficulties. But if nothing else, there's a Rusty and a Millen and a Zerienga and an Anton who are usually good at answering questions.

Keep your caffeine close though...

to check the server status... Has US/EU/Au and from my experience at the worse it might be delayed by 5-10 minutes when servers come back up!

Using Rom exe

Hi,

Just thought I post some feedback, tried to use RoM.exe as per Majid's post. Worked first time around, then next day when I tried to start it, I got a post that I needed to change user accounts b/c I did not have rights to use that program. I am admin on my pc, using Windows 8.1 btw. So, I created another desktop shortcut and managed to get into RoM. Extremely sadly 4 me, I had the same problem again and the saddest part I have lost all my mats and gear I had been farming. I sent a support ticket, I know I can't get anything back, all virtual stuff. Just dishearten.

I'm guessing the outrageous ping I get buggers up dialogue between server and my pc, hence I get intermittent messages when I play, staying mobs are too far away when they are in front of my toon. Toon jumps all over the place at times and I can see my pets are far away from my toon, or at times one is still with me the other in the front, where I was before I jumped backwards.

I ss 1 mil ping in RoM the other day, just insane, never seen ping like that ever before, normally I QQ when it gets 1.5-2k-ish ;(

I was getting extremely high ping yesterday as well. it may have been a routing issue.
relaunching the game was riddled with issues where it would say client was outdated/check firewall/1500000 ping/take 5 minutes to check for updates.
Everything was fine a couple hours later.

Yes client.exe is the file to run to launch the game (and no, it doesn't work every time) Sometimes you may have to go into task manager and stop the Launcher.exe process or ClientUpdate.exe process as those -sometimes- fail catastrophically and will prevent a new client.exe from launching while those are running.
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

Thalia Server info

Gia8it , im one of the few left on Thalia, and as an Aussie player I can assure you that for years now we have struggled getting any sort of message through in regards to receiving help so I wont go on about it too much. However there are many Posts on this forum in regards to the Thalia server which used to be in Queensland Australia but was taken from us and moved to the U.S which may explain some of your ping issues. We begged and pleaded for years for things to happen and it all went to deaf ears, and GM's are probably still scratching their heads about why we are so irritated. I wish I could put them in my shoes and see how they would like the harsh treatment we all got, but we cant, we have to suffer in silence, many of us being players who spent thousands of dollars on the game.

Basically the server is dead because of mismanagement from the heads above, expensive nature of the game, the gambling aspect to leveling gear, bugs taking years to fix and many not fixed at all. These are just a few of the many reasons the server and many other servers are dead or dying.

But one thing is for sure, Runes Of Magic is a great game and the gameplay is fantastic, its full of great ideas and very addictive, but as you can see, it only takes a poor management team to destroy it.

Well guys @ least the forum is 'talking'. I'm on here now b/c hey... no access to home QQ *rolls eyes*.
TBH I am relieved that all the stuff I lost from Windmill runs, seems to have been a 'common' prob and devs are trying to solve this, I feel a bit sorry for them. But in all my years of gaming (I'm an old fart), when things go wrong, game companies give compensation in terms of game pressies (I live in hope). This was such a common feature of one mmo I played, ppl were almost happy when servers crashed or severe glitches occurred, as then compo packs would be given out. Better for free players ofc, but anyone likes free gifts.

Here's hoping we all get access to our virtual homes sooooon pls

I'm sure that, due to these issues, they will have everyone submit a ticket that lost something, and they will replace it according to their logs. But the compensation for the bug? I agree, it's very unlikely that they will give us anything, though I hope they do, considering they shut down the house zone, which affects everyone.
