Buy Orders in Auction House

It would really help the economy if we could place Buy Orders in the Auction House. If people could put in orders that they want to buy say 10 Steel Nails at 10K each, or they need some crafted gear then people could go out and gather the matts people want or craft items people need.

I have seen this in other games, it speeds things up a lot. Even if you could only put in buy orders for matts and runes and simple things then people would know what people wanted and could gather those items.

I quit playing RS so many years ago. But your suggestion sounds like that game's GE. If implemented it would be awesome.

Not to mention, people would know what gear they get that they normally would just trash or sell that people want and if it's worth it.

ORR would give some bored person just the right reason to go farm whatever is on that order... would be great. lol

I like this idea a lot...
I've got some stuff in my house that other people might want but they might not be around when I am trying to get rid of it and would also give people another method for making income by farming what others are looking for 8)

Idea is really sound.

Ideas on implementation should be suggested. I don't trust rw :p

i honestly really think it will promote great competition amongst friends too.. for example say someone puts in a order for a int ma eons... the moment it is noticed i would bet money... myself included... that a bunch of people will all go inside coe ez and start farming ez mode like mad trying to get it.

Or someone looking for a particular piece of pomh or goh gear with a good price tag to allure people...

Point is it will motivate people whether its craftable items.. gear... stats... even a rare card... or maybe someone looking for a really nice set of RT gear OD for their alt.. or for an upcoming toon that could use a bit of help to quest...

I just really think this would be close to gamechanging for a lot of reasons...

I never knew other games implemented this feature, and quite frankly never once thought about it, but havent really stopped thinking about all the possibilities that could be done with it,*if done properly ofc*.

It is a good idea but what do we have to sacrifice to get it done? Will class fixes have to wait longer? Will bug fixes? Will the merger?

Changes like this take time, programming, planning and decisions of what to stop doing in order to do it. I wish there was enough staff, money and desire on the part of management to accomplish stuff like this but they don't have enough to even fix problems that have been complained about for years.

It would not be that much different than when diamonds were in AH and we could put up gold and request any amount of dias. If RW implements this, then I believe that that will be the model they use for it, except you'll have to type the name of an item or it will give you a list of all the items that you can search through.

As for your question about it affecting the merge... didn't GF already say that they are working on the merge seperate of RW? That the merge would not affect the game updates?

Good answer but not to the question asked. If this were to happen immediately with no input from any programer or cost of the programing being done. Since it currently does not exist in ROM it must be programed into the system. Some programers must be taken off the work they are currently doing, stopping the work on those projects and put on this project.

Diamonds and gold are fixed commodities with no variables gear of any sort is not. This is a totally different concept. Each piece of gear, each durability, stats, ghost stats slots etc must be entered individually. The exact name of the item and every detail and stat of it must match exactly the item requested with the item presented for this to work. Even if the names matched the rest of the item wouldn't exactly match durability is many variables as are each and every stat, plus and slot

Your example is changing dollars for change. (Diamonds for gold) both fixed values. When you are exchanging gold for gear it is like dollars for a car. The computer work to do this is greatly different and would take huge programing time and money.

I'm not exactly thinking of them managing the prices for everything. That would be way too complex to be done, imo. If they tried to program a certain price to reflect the cost of each +, each stat, and the dura, it would become a restricting environment where the prices are set in stone. I don't think this would do any good for the population if this was implemented this way. It would be much easier to allow you to set the gold price you are willing to pay, and then create the wanted item (the item would have "WANTED:" at the beginning of it and would be unable to be equipped)

Yes but still where would the people, time and money to create the program, test it, and implement it come from.

What you want is incredibly complicated to program. It has to come from somewhere what would want eliminated to do it.

Guild Wars 2 has this system in their auction house and it works great. I'm 100% behind this idea, it should have been put in a long time ago.

Its not that hard to add this feature. I'm a programmer and if I was asked to enhance this I would look at what is already there and enhance it. There is already sections for item types, search features and methods for paying gold. I would first add this feature to some simple section like matts, and then reuse that code for the other sections. For items, I would add the ability for people to put in any dura and 101 -120 with a dropdown list. It wouldn't be that hard to do.

Think about the charplan pug in, it has a lot of the item search and edit features you would need. I would look at that plug in to get ideas on how to implement this.

I think this idea is pretty sound... and honestly... really cool.

How many times I have thought about selling a piece of gear and don't because I am unsure of if it will sell or not. If it is not a piece of gear that one of my alts could use if it doesn't sell... then I don't do it.

I think it shouldn't take too much since they could do it with gold for the diamonds. Even if it isn't completely automated. Just a place in the AH where someone could put up the cash (so they don't end up spending it on something else) with a description of what they are looking for or vice or versa. Then at that point you could "request a cod" from the seller and the rest is history and the AH takes its part if done through the AH. If the players then choose to bypass then AH then so be it.

I think it pretty awesome, only questions are gonna be the "how" it is implemented as to if it will work.

I think it could be implemented similar to charplan (for the gear part) like Erich1999 said, but you could select "random additional stat / clean" as an option for the stats. And for mats, you could input the name of the mat you are looking for.

When looking to sell the item, you can click on the listing which will open up an insert item here box, the game will then check if the item matches the listing, and if it does, you them click the sell button and it will make the trade for you.

I also think this a great idea, but think it might be impractical for anything other than simple items that have no variation like dailies. I think it will just have to be simple bulletin board next to the auction house where people place want ads and then responders can contact the listers through mail or pm to figure out the details.

Suppose I want to buy an OD, t10, +16, 4 rune slots sandos claw dagger and put in 30M gold. What if a seller has a t10 but only +15, or another seller has a t9 but +18, or another seller has t10 +16 but only 3 rune slots, etc. It's not possible to match these and it will end up with the seller having to contact the buyer anyway, so there's not really much benefit of this compared to just doing a WTB world shout.

It's also very dangerous to expect ROM's programmers to be able to implement a complicated program like this so that someone doesn't get really screwed in the transaction. They can't even change one loot item in HoS properly so this is really expecting too much.
