On the one side you have existing high level crafters who would prefer to protect their investment into leveling their crafts
yet a good number of people got to useful crafting levels when the event was new. since then, the game has progressed faster than the event. simply put, the people that leveled their crafts with prior crafting festivals are in essence, arguing that newer people should not have the same advantage they did.
if the crafting festival went to slightly lower than cap, and then increased a couple levels every year like the actual crafting levels, then there is nothing to complain about, as all people get dumped at the same relative spot (couple levels below "useful"), same with if crafting level went straight to cap every year.
it doesn't matter whether you leveled crafts without festival or not. if you leveled them without festival, grats, but condemning others for using the festival for it's intended purpose is not ok(considering unless you leveled crafts before the festival came in ch5...even then, again, at this point, the festival gets you through the "useless" levels...much like CoO/xav...no point complaining about it now, considering the game has progressed FAR past it). if you leveled crafts with ANY prior version of the festival, then you have no right to block others from enjoying the same benefit you did(getting dumped at cap or darn near it).
edit: looking back at crafting festival guide, it appears that it originally capped out at ~55(when game cap was 67, as far as i can tell). so it HAS been updated. you can sort of track the increases in this
thread .
