Level 80 elite skills.

It may be time to up the elite skills. I would like to see level 80 elites that cause you to re-think your statting and/or skills rotations. For example, Knight/Rogue already has a skill that causes Shadowstab to use Stamina as a damage multiplier instead of dexterity. If the opposite side (Rogue/Knight), had a skill that changed all attack damage to use stamina as a damage multiplier instead of dexterity, you could build a r/k that would be more useful in instance runs. These rogues, in leather, would be able to take more boss damage AND mob damage in hard-mode instance runs, and maybe would reduce the dependence on buff-alts that sit outside the instance and buff when you run back out.

Similarly rogue/mage could make use of the mage fireballs if it used dexterity as a damage multiplier. You would not necessarily want to change all the skills, just the mage general skills when you are on rogue primary. Or something else that would make mage general skills more useful on rogue side. Yeah, I know, r/m is already pretty effective, but if the fireball were able to keep up with things like Throw, it would be nice. Or maybe Fireball would have initial damage that it has now , but a bleed-type DOT that is calculated using dexterity, with a tick every 2 seconds for 12 or 14 seconds, starting with second 2(no initial bleed damage, only the damage over time)with DOT damage calculated by dexterity.

And just as wd/w and W/K can wear plate, Rogue/Warrior, Rogue/Warden or rogue/champion that could wear chain, would give DPS with more durability.

I am using Rogues as examples because that is mostly what I play.

Elite skills are the tool the game designers have for balancing the class combinations, so the way to do it would be to analyze the playerbase for the combinations people don't play, and give those ones some sweeteners. Want to coax people away from the current FotM combos and mix it up a bit.

Anyone want to list the red-headedest stepchildren of RoM class combinations, and how to bring them up to viability?

eventually they will have to release 80+ elite skills someday. I mean elite skills are what makes runes of magic different from other games... its almost the focal point of it.
And i say that half hopingly.. XD

They also need to release ISS Skills for 75+ as well.. give us a reason to run older content dungeons again.

I beg to disagree, Seb. Elite skills aren't for class balancing as much as for class-combo distinction. A priest/warrior is a whole different animal than a priest/mage, priest/rogue, or pretty much priest/anything else, and the differences are amplified by the elite skills.

As i mostly play rogues, again I will rely on my experience here. My r/m used to be fun in siege because I could sit on a bridge in hide mode and drop traps when the enemy was trying to cross. Then i would have the enemy damaged and suffering a 10-second stun. Back then they were not a popular combo to play, because the elites didn't seem particularly effective for instances. Now all the r/s toons have rolled to r/m for the new elites which massively increase DPS in a boss fight. A ranged AoE, a local AoE and a 30-second AoE are pretty awesome, especially when combined with Enchanted Throw, which I never turn off unless I switch to m/r. But now, if you want other rogue classes to "class balance", something needs to be offered to hold up on that fire power. r/w in chain, or r/k statting stam without losing damage, those things would help.

A rogue/mage with a more useful fireball would "balance" the other combo's like wd/w and w/wd that are able to effectively use the general skills of their secondary.

So yeah- I guess for balancing class combos, the level 80 elites for rogues that I am suggesting would help balance. Thanks for the reinforcing input.

As much as I would love new elites, rom has enough balancing issues already without runewaker creating more, would sooner see better balance first then new elites added, maybe even new classes(you can dream right?)

K/P. Not enough aggro to tank. Not enough healing for support. Not enough damage for DPS. Mine only gets invited when someone wants the buff.

And every time I go looking to get my r/m into a mentos run, someone wants me to bring my m/wl instead (for the boss de-buff). The rogue ranks in the 70's on server for dex and has a tier 12 level 97 OD dagger(bought with mentos, and I may stat it over at next level cap for my mage side's off-hand). It takes almost 500 diamonds on the wheel just to reach level 3 where the tempered jewels are, and then you can't even control what you get, so +16 is my ceiling unless GF puts them on a weekend sale or someone is volunteering to refine Grumpmama's dagger for me. At least the ones on the wheel are "perfect", but still- I think that arrangement is NUTS!

K/P, I think a level 80 elite to tweak Holy Smite could help w/ aggro:

Level 80 Elite ( K/P ): Holy Anger, 10% mana Buff ( 900 Seconds )

If Holy Smite hits, Holy Smite now adds an additional aggro buff for 3 seconds. Base aggro buff is 10%. Each Holy Seal on the target increases aggro buff by 10-40% ( Holy Seal x 10% ). Each level of Holy Anger increases the base aggro buff by 0.5%. @ 97, 58.5% increased aggro base. 1 HS: 68.5%, 2 HS: 78.5%, 3 HS: 88.5%, 4 HS: 98.5%. On a critical hit, there is a chance that Holy Smite will not cool down.

Basically making Holy Smite the main skill for a K/P to use.

Aggro isnt an issue for k/p though, its just not useful for burst fight because it lacks ad debuff, until something changes to help other knight classes. K/p will only be used for strat fights.

we make kanu tank rh 1rst as k/p and there doesn't seem to be agro issue. Cenre is right ad is the reason k/w is the top tank. Played k/p in siege with healer gear and it does good. Also seen maimed siege with it in tank gear and it does good as well. There are many worse classes then k/p though, but balancing is not an ez task. I wouldn't mind new elites, but I hope they don't make the game unbalanced.

ps if you want to run your rogue then dual box and use a macro for your m/wl. we rarely have a real player doing the m/wl in our runs.

We can probably come up with some ideas more interesting than just bigger numbers, too.
  • Cavalry Charge - Knight. Charge does not cause you to dismount.
  • Marry - Priest. You can perform all the functions of the relationship NPC.
  • Lay of the Land - Scout. Your mini-map can zoom out further.
  • Shapeshift - Druid. While Spirit Guidance is active, you look like the target and don't aggro those mobs.
  • Heel - Warden. Pet moves behind you and stays there for a minute (rather than loitering annoyingly on top of the quest giver).
  • Mobile Repair - Champion. You can perform the repair function of a vendor NPC. It costs twice as much for the user, and you pocket half the fee.
  • Clairvoyance - Warlock. You can move your camera position away from your character's location.

So basically use an outside program to be able to use and run multiple clients in instances? plus DIYCE and you can run all by yourself?

It doesn't... take any "outside programs" to run multiple clients... I would assume you of all people would know this.

The m/wl boss debuff doesn't last long enough for you to use it then switch characters, You have to keep tossing one of the two skills that cause it and then only lasts... I don't remember... 10 seconds? 15 seconds?... each time it hits. So you stay on the midget and keep flaming. As fast as it cools down, do it again. I am not smart enough to build a robo-macro, and it would probably fringe on botting.

If it was botting the macro system wouldn't be introduced there.

Example- "Ok guys, it will be a 20 second countdown."

*writes macro for it in 2 seconds*

/wait 15
/cast Elemental Catalysis
/wait 5
/cast Electric Explosion
/wait 1
--*proceed to copy and paste the above 2 lines as much as possible*
/cast Electric Explosion
/wait 1
/cast Electric Explosion
/wait 1
/cast Electric Explosion
/wait 1
/cast Electric Explosion
/wait 1
/cast Electric Explosion

Like that ^
Press that macro on your m/wl at start of countdown, with the boss targetted.
switch to rogue and boom, play your DPS class to your hearts content.
I hope I didn't come off rude with the macros, everybody has to start off learning somewhere, i'ma noob with them also. But it really is that easy, and certainly permitted to do. So try it out and best of luck!

Preety much what Roguetopriest said, except ofc a real player is always better then a macro(at least for a wl/m and m/wl) because there is situations when there is more then 1 boss you have to debuff, not to mention once the macro ends it wont be debuffing unless you reactivate, and for long bosses (crypt 5th at 90 cap for example) not having m/wl for post burst slows the fight down a lot.

New Elite Skills

So I'm going to attempt this suggestion again. 80 and 90 elite skills, both skills would require a multi-step questing process and the skills themselves should be just "okay" by themselves but best when used together.

18

Thursday, December 15th 2016, 3:23pm

I like unique classes & am trying out D/W right now. What would be cool for D/W as 80/90 elites?

80 Elite: Nourishment - The Nourish buff now has a chance to recast itself on the target. ( 25%? )
90 Elite: Bite of the Thorns - While Briar Technique is active, each strike of Natural Attack, Cross of Thorns or Heart Piercing reduces the cooldown time of Unity of Mother Earth by 1-5 seconds ( # of seconds per buff stack )

19

Tuesday, January 24th 2017, 4:31am

Thought about 80 & 90 elites for P/W:

80 Elite: Wave Shield - Passive, changes Wave Armor: Wave Armor now lasts 15 seconds and can only be self-cast. For the next 15 seconds, all damage is reduced by (1 - 9.6)% ( as listed in Wave Armor ) + 0.1 x ( Wisdom + Shield Defense ) per hit. Cooldown 20 seconds.
90 Elite: Enhanced Wave Shield - Passive, changes Wave Armor: While Wave Armor is active, every 3 seconds, 10 rage and 1% mana is generated. When Wave Armor ends, 100 + 25 per level water damage aoe explosion occurs. ( magic damage with 15 second cast time ) Range 80 centered on the player's toon. Causes knockdown.
